I think it would look better, and more in style with the rest of the board, if there were short explainations as to what the two "folders" represented. Like we do everywhere else.
Or, at the very least make the name "Film and TV Threads" rather than the minimalist "Film and TV" name.
Film and TV Threads
The threads where we talk about all the shows and people and movies we love.
Closed Threads
The threads that are full. Conversations from days gone by.
For instance?
I think, Daniel, that as ita explained here: ita "Buffistas Building a Better Board ++" Aug 19, 2005 3:20:06 pm PDT that for it to get a slug/description means it probably won't happen because it requires other coding.
Boy, when ita suggested that there be a TV folder, I knew it would open a can of worms, I just had not the slightest clue it would be this particular can. In hindsight, I feel like I should have seen this coming a mile away.
I like the new folders, and think the organisational stuff works fine, ita. I use message center anyway, so nothing really changes in either how I use the board, or how it looks to me.
How is this a can of worms?
I don't like the idea, but it's clear that I am in the minority. That's the way it goes sometimes. I'll cry and cry and cry use my message center and it won't be an issue, even for me, and I was probably the loudest protester.
The other part, about what to call the folders/subfolders/bojanglers, should be easy to work out.
Go Bojanglers, choose bojanglers.
I don't use message center, so I'm a way big cranky pants about it. But I figure I lose. Too tired to fight it what amounts to one more click.
I don't use message center either, and it looks weird, but I figure I'll get used to it. (Though I liked the subfolders on the bottom better.)
Okay, so maybe a few worms.
Though I liked the subfolders on the bottom better.
Especially the closed threads bojangler. I'd rather that not be above actve threads.
If this is contradictory to an earlier opinion of mine, please feel free to choose which one to disregard.
Liese, may I please tag this?
The amount of questions about foldering convinced me that not enough people had processed the presence of the closed threads. Not a world ender, but once active threads are foldered, I think it's very important that it be made obvious obvious obvious that it's been done.
Bottom of the page doesn't achieve that goal.
And I have yet to think of a logical and systematic way to separate subfolders (so Closed isn't displayed with the others) that doesn't overcomplicate the algorithms.
I'm open to suggestion.
