I'm really liking having the spoiler font in a fairly pale gray -- it's low-contrast enough it feels a bit whisper-ish and I have to actually stop and read it if I'm skimming past; a bright color feels like it'd be too loud for spoilers, especially in the way they're used conversationally (if that makes sense).
Me too! They still feel hush-hush, but I don't have to select anything to read them. (Which is very nice on a computer, but made completely of awesome on the iPod Touch.)

so, I'm on the iPhone now and, to give an e ample, I just tried to read brenda's post in Procedural and I can't see the white font. Which is weird because it was working before.
test post with white font
Ok, now I'm confused. It ate my s quick edit thing.

thanks, amych and Jessica! i'm going to try out #888888!
My spoiler font is pink
.spoiler {color: pink;}
It works for me the same way light gray works for others.
What is the deal with alt.buffistas.net? How is it different from buffistas.org?
It's exactly the same as b.org except it's not blocked by whatever service nannies my (and MFNLaw's) web connection at work.

It worked, because I so your spoiler stuff in my new shiny color.
weird - I can see the spoiler stuff on my computer but not the iPhone. DO I have to set the CSS stuff on each computer/phone? Maybe my iPhone doesn't like CSS? Is this working for other iPhone users?
