Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Gah, so much left to do, and here I am sitting at the computer...lazy is what I am.

What is even happening?

You, err, didn't fill them in on the meaning, did you?

It's a cultural thing. For the family from the Maritimes, frigging is about as much of a curse as darn, shoot, fudge, etc. It's a place holder. Even the little kids say it.

Some people should never live in Ireland.

Hee. Well, the family is Scots-Irish, but still, yeah.

I like the Nike ads and I also really love the Dove ads. Not enough to buy either products, but there you have it.

I love the knee one for Nike. "So I tripped her. 'I'm there for you, sister.'"

Right now, I'm cleaning my closet out. It's oddly sad and liberating.

Good bye size 6 Ann Taylor dress I wore to college graduation.

Are you ready to be strong?

I can't sleep. Jet lag, which my new husband seems annoyingly immune to. Tokyo is weird and pretty and fun. Being married is fun. Hi, fuckos.

Hey Rio! are you still in Japan or are you back? Are you loving getting to say, "My husband"?

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I love the knee one for Nike. "So I tripped her. 'I'm there for you, sister.'"

That's my favorite.

RIO!! IT'S THE MARRIED FUCKOS!

Are you ready to be strong?

Yay! Awake people!

are you still in Japan or are you back?

Here for another week! Today we go to the crazy anime part of town where there are cafes full of fanboy geeks where the waitresses dress up as anime characters, then we move from this hotel to the one in Lost in Translation, then hopefully I take a nap, then there's dinner. Then we're going to a drag show.

Are you loving getting to say, "My husband"?

Yes! I can't wait till I get to introduce him to new people.

I feel like a character on the West Wing as I try to figure out what day and time you are at.... Friday sometime, yes?

Anime characters? FUN!

Has anything surprised you about Tokyo?

Are you ready to be strong?

It's Friday morning, almost 7 AM. Saget is sleeping peacefully. I'm so jealous.

Has anything surprised you about Tokyo?

The sounds! You don't see those in pictures. For starters, the cicadas are almost deafening in some spots. And there is constant noise in our part of town, which is very Blade Runner-y--machines going off and pachinko parlors and people SCREAMING in very nasal voices to get people into their stores. And yet right now it is very quiet and beautiful.

We've learned a few basic Japanese phrases that are fun to say. People seem to like it when you make even the tiniest effort to say things in their language.

Almost no one here speaks any English at all. That's a little surprising, too.
