I feel like a character on the West Wing as I try to figure out what day and time you are at.... Friday sometime, yes?
Anime characters? FUN!

It's Friday morning, almost 7 AM. Saget is sleeping peacefully. I'm so jealous.

The sounds! You don't see those in pictures. For starters, the cicadas are almost deafening in some spots. And there is constant noise in our part of town, which is very Blade Runner-y--machines going off and pachinko parlors and people SCREAMING in very nasal voices to get people into their stores. And yet right now it is very quiet and beautiful.
We've learned a few basic Japanese phrases that are fun to say. People seem to like it when you make even the tiniest effort to say things in their language.
Almost no one here speaks any English at all. That's a little surprising, too.
SO FUCKING JEALOUS!

You should wake him! That's totally what I would do to Lori. But I'm a little kid like that.
Since few people speak English, is it difficult just to do all of the things you normally do, like order food, find your way, buy toiletries, etc?
I know the question is weird, but when I'm confronted by an unknown alphabet, I find that I can spend whole days in almost silence and I discover so much more because it's all discovery since I have no idea what is going on. dislocation at its finest.

That struck me as odd when we went to Tokyo and Osaka, too. But you'll still have oodles of fun.
Hey, Gloomcookie, with regard to your tag: It's not just my disc, right? That song gets annoyingly, almost unlistenably distorted at the end, right? Why did they do that? It would be such a good song otherwise.

No, I'm pretty good at sign language. And a lot of the menus have pictures. When they don't, we just point at something someone else is having.
You are correct, RIO. The distortion on many of the songs is annoying. Still love the music, though.

This was the source of our first married argument. Dh wanted to nap. I wanted to go exploring.
Hey Rio! What'd you buy for me in anime town?
