"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Cool and foggy here in SF, as it tends to be in August. I recommend that all of you who are hot just come and visit me.

Oakland A's - Bart Simpson - Reliable bad-boy winners who march to the beat of their own drum. Locked in a constant struggle against the overbearing establishment. Every time you think they're going to get what's coming to them, they weasel out of it and surprise you again.

Sweet weasely goodness!

Emmett played his last tournament baseball game this morning. Despite their best showing all summer (they went 4-1 in this tournament) they missed the finals game by losing this morning. Apparently they were half asleep for the 9am start-time, and were missing easy outs for the first three innings. There's some distressing talk about Fall Ball though.

We saw Sky High afterwards (again - as Bad News Bears was already gone). Saw the Narnia trailer and it looks...fantastic. In a big fantasy epic way - not in a veiled Christian allegory way. I might have to leave JZ home to see that one.

She's off at Faire workshop again fussing over period dialect. Emmett's on the couch reading Uncle Scrooge comics (it was inevitable he'd eventually discover Carl Barks, I suppose, with all those images of swimming in money).

Happy belated birthday to Erinaceous!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Nice that I spent all day "mentally preparing" to do laundry, and now it's too late. Maybe tomorrow.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Announcement: I make damn good quiche.

Revelation: But 1% milk isn't the best choice for quiche-making.

Analysis: Embrace the butterfat.

Outcome: I'm still eating the quiche. 'Cause it gooooooood.

Quiche-eater!

Emmett's playing the "Cheese Roll Call" right now. What's in your quiche?

I'm drinking Cheerwine.

A blend of asiago, fontina, and romano. Yummmm. Also spinach and crabmeat (neither of which are cheese, just in case you weren't aware).

The wonder of quiche is how easy it is to make. It looks all fancy and complicated, but it's really not. It's like an omlette in a pie crust.
