Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

China to send pig sperm to space

Because....they were running out of places to store it?

I just got home from fruitless errands and spent the past 45 minutes outside in the heat, fanning my neighbor until the paramedics showed up. See, it's been hot. It's been humid (the dewpoint is mid 70s, that humid.) Turns out, my elderly neighbor, the one who had a stroke 5 years ago and has had numerous minor episodes since, HASN'T HAD A/C IN A WEEK. WHICH IS ILLEGAL. The stupid fucks who I've had to deal with WITHOUT a medical letter, who took a month to fix my a/c, are giving her the same run around. So now she's off the hospital with chestpains and numbness that she rates a 10.

Luckily, her whole extended family was here (which is why she even tried to go out) and one of them is a property manager who knows the system, so she's going to rip them a new one.

Once we know she's doing better, we are going to yell at her for a) not taking her medicine this morning and b) not knocking on my door at some point and asking to stay here, or calling family to go over to stay with them. She's stubborn and has a lot of pride and I think over-estimates her ability to manage. She doesn't really let her younger sister (who lives there too) or her great grandkids take care of her. She's sort of the matriarch.

Blerg.

And the shoes I was going to buy just went off sale and I won't pay that much for them. Minor stuff.

Always Anti-fascist!

How come leaving a negative comment for the asshole who didn't send me the book I paid for makes *me* feel like the asshole? (Besides my Leary-like embrace of the word "asshole")

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Really? How does that work?

I hope she's okay, and that the management or whoever is at fault shapes up quickly.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Oh, sarameg! I'm glad you were there for her!

I'm taking shelter in my own AC for now, but we're supposed to get cooling t-storms later, so all is good....

It's in the lease and in MD rental law. If they are supposed to provide a/c, if they cannot, they must provide alternative (different apartment or hotelvoucher.)

And now my sugar cat is acting ill and I'm worried about him . Going to go watch him closely now.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It's 72 in San Francisco. I think it was 108 in Sacramento though. But that's because we're protected by some wacky meteorological spell.

Also, there's a large raven making a lot of noise in my back yard.

Also, I've spoiled myself for the Harry Potter book by reading all the LJ reactions (including Fay's) which was really fun. It's fascinating watching the HP fanfic people bumping up against the new canon. While at the same time, the most common comment seems to be how informed by fanfic the whole book is.

You're always taunting me that way. Has it been three or four summers now? No, fuck, it's four...that went fast, and slow, and fast, and slow. The rollercoaster of my life. If I scream I don't vomit.
