Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

He kissed me in a way that I've never been kissed before

Oooh, THAT way.

brillig

Everytime the Who's "Who are You" plays, and that line "Who the fuck are you!" plays, Hubby and I just shake our heads. I've never heard it bleeped, and I'm wondering if the censors have all gone deaf or zoned out by the time that part plays.

Cindy's a Melanie fan, eh?

This is a Melanie song? I've always wondered (in an obscure, not gonna actually be bothered to look it up way) what she did. Because both my RealFirstName and RealLastName are the one-word names of musicians from the 60's-70's. I knew RealLastName's stuff, but not RealFirst name. Cool. I learn so much from you guys.

What did you think it was about before? Or did you just never think about it? (I've missed song lyric double-entendres by not thinking about the lyrics.)

Never thought about it.

I still blush when I remember a 6 or 7 year old me singing along to "I Want a Lover with a Slow Hand." Just didn't think about what the words meant.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

A radio station in Madison once attempted to play the song "Martin Scorsese" by King Missle. The DJ attempted to bleep out all the profanity, but he was only catching about half of them (because there's so much). When the song was half-way through he took it off. Cracked me up.

This one' called Martin Scorsese
He makes the best fucking films (x2)
If I ever meet him I'm gonna grab his fuckin' neck and just shake him
And say thank you thank you for makin' such excellwnt fuckin' movies
Then I'd twist his nose all the way the fuck around
And the rip off one of his ears and throw it
Like a like a like a fuckin' frisbee
I wanna chew his fuckin' lips off and grab his head and suck out one of his
eyes and chew on it and spit it out in his face
And thank you thank you for all of your fuckin' films
Then I'd pick him up by the hair swing him over my head a few times
And throw him across the room and kick all his fuckin' teeth in and then
stomp on his face 40 or 50 times
Cuz he makes the best fucking films he makes the best fucking films
I've ever seen in my life
I fuckin love him
I fuckin love him

I thought I heard that! I figured I must be mishearing a "funk", or something to that effect.

Couldn't have been. It was MTV all the time.

The original S&M one with people in cages or the boring light show one?

Same character, I think. "Holly came from Miami, F. L. A./Thought s/he (?) was James Dean for a day/Plucked etc...." is how it goes, I'm pretty sure.

Nope. Jackie was just speedin' away / Thought she was James Dean for a day....

Yeah. The song also emphasises the importance of having a downer, such as Valium, to help out after an amphetemine binge.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

This is a Melanie song?

I have to admit, the only version I've ever heard is by Rasputina. Assuming we're talking about the same song, which I think we are.

Thanks, Sean, I'd forgotten that verse entirely.
