Compassionately intolerant

I found more than a few typos and it really threw me off. Being dyslexic, I've got a hard enough time having to reread things my miswired brain scrambles. Actual typos are a bane. ("Did I read that wrong? No? Wait. Does it really say?" Argh.)

I'm with Tara on the whole people's spelling is so bad on the internets (icluding mine) but in publishing? There should be higher standards!

Swouncing

Poking head after a few days with no outside-world-computer-access to post that, according to the Buffista Calendar, I'm both horrible late and on time: the 14th was Ouise's birthday, the 15th was jengod's, the 16th was Paul's (PMM's DH) - and all I have left now is send them belated wishes for a great year. However, at least for one Buffista my computer is behaving itself, since today is juliana's birthday, and I can wish her a wonderful day and a great year, without any "oy, I wish I weren't late" stuff. So, wishes all around!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yay, Theo. Curse of Chalion is good fun, and the next book, Paladin of Souls, is somehow way better. It's fabulous. Same world, though the stories don't intersect very much. There's a third out now, but in HC so I'll be waiting awile.

Either I was very distracted in 1998, or I've just forgotten that there was a Godzilla made that year.

I have the soundtrack, which is pretty decent when I'm in a certain mood, but never did see the movie.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Happy birthday to ( deepbreath) OuisejenGodPaulandJulianna!

and now for the hivemind question . In the 70's there were at least 2 different fake interviews with popular figures and all the answers to the questions were popular song lyrics. for example: Nixon was interviewed and when asked how he was feeling - the answer to the question was " on top of the world"( carpenters) and when Mr. Jaws was interviewd one of the answers was " why can't we be friends , why can't we be friends" ( war) . anyone got anymore info and even where they might be found?

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Happy Birthday, juliana!

And Happy Belated Birthdays to Ouise, and jengod and Paul.

Also, Happy Anniversary to Disneyland, which opened 50 years ago today.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

DavidS will be able to answer your question, beth! I can remember those records, and in fact IIRC the "artist" did those records from the 50s on... alas, I can't remember the name, of course. You might look through the song listings for Dr. Demento collections as I'm sure some of them ended up in there!

In other news: gronk.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I hope people allergic to shellfish aren't allergic to chitosan.

I'd guess no since the article refers to chitosan as the second most ubiquitous substance on earth -- they'd be allergic to a lot more than shellfish if chitosan was the allergen.

I thought iodine was the main allergen in shellfish.

I know they've had those bandages for a bit and are using them in Iraq, but I had no idea they were shrimp. That's both cool, and "damn, another way to denude the ocean."
