"Plucked his eyebrows then he was a she."
"But she never lost her head, even when she was giving head."
It's still amazing that song was a huge AM hit without censoring. Still, one of the great basslines of all time. (courtesy of Herbie Flowers - who also played bass on David Essex's "Rock On" which also has an awesome bass hook.)
"I'm glad I'm a man, and so is Lola." Though it is arguable that Lola is also glad he's a man. But the rest of the song ceases to make sense if you follow that interpretation.
I'm still avoiding processing what Kinky Reggae might be about.
Sounds like back door love, to me.
The night is young and full of possibilities
Well come on and let yourself be free
My love for you, so long I've been savin'
Tonight was made for you and me
You can ring my be-e-ell, ring my bell (ring my bell, ding-dong-ding)
Edit: I mean, it's just about doing it, nothing crazy, but as a kid I had no clue, is the point.
tommyrot, is that the "I've got a brand new pair of roller skates; you've got a brand new key" song? I love that song, and have since I was little.
"Ring My Bell" was featured prominently at my prom. It might have even been the official prom theme.

Cindy's a Melanie fan, eh?
I am still bitter about the Prom Committee political brou-ha-ha that led to my prom song NOT being "Let's Chill" by Guy. Seriously.
"I'm glad I'm a man, and so is Lola."
There's also, "Girls will be boys and boys will be girls /
It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for Lola."
Which you could interpret two ways too, I suppose - but then when you look at the song as a whole I think the conclusion is inescapable.
Well I'm not the world's most physical guy
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
and
Well I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walked like a woman and talked like a man
Holly Woodlawn, about whom "Walk on the Wild Side" was written, is the guest of honor at an event we're holding at my theatre in September. I'm kinda psyched to meet her.
