Natter 37: Oddly Enough, We've Had This Conversation Before.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
DH ordered ours Standard (which blows away the Amazon discount), which came with "guaranteed" delivery today, and it's not here.
I could call the post office, but they're pretty flaky. [Actually, I can't -- they close at 1 on Saturdays. Screw this, I'm going for a walk.]
I think I'm just going to walk up to the bookstore. At this point, it's more the principle of the thing than the book itself.
I wish I could email you my copy.
Aw, thanks. There's supposed to be a torrent of it floating around, but I want a book. Reading it online's not the same.
Okay, dork that I am, I'm going to drive up to the office to see if the book was delivered (and left with the security desk). Next book, I *have* to remember to have it delivered to my apartment, at least, if it's released on a weekend, that is.
Back from the bookstore, book has been gotten. I was worried at first because I didn't see any on the floor, but it turned out they were keeping them all behind the cashier's desk. And I got a complimentary pair of Harry Potter glasses too, yay.
Mine is here too. So far, I'm being good about it, because I think once I open it I'm in trouble.
Off to read Understanding by Design, which I'm sure will be every bit as riveting. Although it probably uses the word "pedagogy" more and "Occlumency" less.
Bah. No book at work. But I got groceries. (Not at work, either, because that would be weird.) I guess I wait until Monday.
And I got a complimentary pair of Harry Potter glasses too, yay.
Heh. I can totally see you wearing those.
I was at my local Borders at 10 this am and they only had reserved copies left. (They were telling someone else. By whatever twist of fate, I am not part of Harry Potter Nation.) Glad your store was better stocked.
So I'm halfway through HP6 and distressed that I don't remember the 5th book well. In fact, HP4, very vivid, but HP5? Not as memorable.
I wonder if HP6 will be in the end?
HP5 was a lot of Harry being a whiny teenager, Dumbledore avoiding Harry for plot purposes, and Sirius getting whacked. Plus Neville grew a pair.
Huh. Either I was very distracted in 1998, or I've just forgotten that there was a Godzilla made that year. With Matthew Broderick, Hank Azaria, Joan Cusak , the red head from News Radio, Manhattan, and a big-ass monster, yet. But now it's on my TV.
I'm hoping my friend will bring the copy of HP6 that I'm almost sure she has by now to the beach with her in three weeks for me to read. I should probably mention that to her. Oh, hey, beach in three weeks - yay.
Yep, Steph. I remember those bits. But there are characters in this one
Luna?
that were in 5 that I just don't remember.
Enh. This one feels like another
place holder book
so far.
(none of that is super spoilery)
