There are many and varied reasons why I have no intention of going to South America. This is just one of them. The giant spiders is another one.
My chief reason was watching a Discovery Channel special about a woman whose plane broke up while flying over the Amazon. She survived the fall and managed to walk out of the rain forest to safety on her own, but not before HAVING TO USE HER ENGAGEMENT RING AS A HOOK TO DIG THE GIANT MAGGOTS OUT OF HER SKIN AFTER STINGING FLIES LAID EGGS IN HER!
Okay, I think Matt just beat the beastiality convo for ewwwness.
It was merely a statement of fact.
In other news, I'm trying to come up with activities to do with my folks while they're here. My mom always wants to do wine country but it's not feasible given the amount of time they're here. Then I thought...Santa Barbara has wineries. Maybe we can do that on Sunday.
OOOOH! Fun! Wineries are always fun. And you can do a pretend Sideways. Minus the infidelity.
Kristen, we have a AAA Southern and Central California Wineries map which we can give ya on Saturday. Lots of choices.
sarameg, funny booze is always a good answer.
AAA has a wineries map?
I give them money, they need to give me that map.
edit: Three As, not two. AA passing out winery maps would be wrong.
Oh thanks! That would be great.
AA passing out winery maps would be wrong.
But funn-ee.
South America is South America! Nasty things can kill you here too -- it's pretty much people killing me, or perhaps weather that'll keep me from visiting places.
Hell, if my plane breaks up with me in it, digging eggs out of my skin afterwards is a
privilege.
My best vacation ever was in Caracas. There were other factors at play besides location for making it the best, but still. The best. Not exactly the wilds, though. The weather was perfect-o. Birthplace, Buenos Aires. No memories of it, but in the home movies? Beautiful. My mother says Buenos Aires was her favorite of the places we lived. I want to visit - pilgrimage to the natal site!
