It looks like Emily is visiting Jamaica. [link]

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

The simplest widgets are just HTML and Javascript (and maybe some XML). So it seems to me that simple widgets should also run in Windows, either in a browser window (widgets can run in a browser window on the Mac) or as an Active Desktop thingie.

I've never tried this, though.

eta: come to think of it, many widgets use an OS X graphic API call (or something) to draw the graphic portion of a widget....

Yes, I know this should be in Tech....

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Jessica, now would be a good time to listen to "Waiting for the Electrician Or Someone Like Him"!

Heh. Actually, I'm just debating whether or not it would be tempting fate to take a shower. With the way today's going, the UPS guy's guaranteed to show up as soon as I've gotten naked, so I think I'll wait.

I don't like using my debit card for shopping because it forces me to keep too close track on how much money I have. With cash, the money's already gone from my account, and with credit, it's not due until the end of the month. Debit purchasing is unsettlingly instant to me.

recon...hahaha...cile...hahaha...whoa...excuse me....HAHAHAHA.

if it is any consolation, it is STILL of by some random amount under a dollar. Used to be $7 something but that mysteriously went away.

I'm a wee paranoid when it comes to money.

hip deep in pie

Season 1 of Remignton Steele is coming out on DVD!

I always liked this season best, before Doris Roberts was allowed to annoy me.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

With cash, the money's already gone from my account, and with credit, it's not due until the end of the month. Debit purchasing is unsettlingly instant to me.

I like the instantaneousness (is that a word? instantaneosity?) because it makes me keep closer track. My new card bugs, because they charge a fee for debit transactions with the PIN but not for charge transactions. That day or two before it reflects in my account is what makes me nervous.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

wOO-HOO! I am 35 on today's fastest NYTimes online X-word solvers! 35!

I might have to stop doing this, I'll never beat that.

Trust my rage

In other news, I've become sadly addicted to the minute-by-minute Tour de France newsflashes.

I'm watching the Tour right now, AIFG. Actually, it's a rather dull stage, but still fun to watch.

amych, you are so right! This may as well be the All-Lance-All-the-Time channel. Personally, I think the guy is amazing, but I sort of wish he had retired last year so someone else could win for once.

eta: also, my bank pays *me* to use my debit card
