There is a huge divide between urban/rural here in Missouri. Lots of issues come down to St. Louis and Kansas City vs. the rest of the state.
Illinois is kinda the same way, except Chicago (and suburbs) is so huge compared to the rest of the state that we always get our way.
Southern Illinois is a little scary to me....
Wow, seriously? Totally clear downtown. So far, anyway.
We've got a monsoon out here on the North Shore right now.
It's not raining here (I stayed home from work today) but I'm watching the big-ass storm coming our way on radar.

Waukegan and the area south of it are getting nailed. We're gonna get ours, but it's gonna be a lot less....
I
don't
think Roe will be overturned. I can't see the justification at this point. It depends on a dubious interpretation of the Constitution-- that much is true, and so the Rust brief wasn't too far off the mark-- but it's been such a part of the Court's jurisprudence that it's practically cemented now.

I'm less confident. Although if Roe is overruled, liberals will be more galvanized than in a long time.

Yeah, which is why many conservatives are wary....
Not the far-right Christians, though.
I see ominous black clouds to the north. Ooohhhh.... Spooky.
Far-right Christians don't like Griswold v. Connecticut one little bit. That's the one that created/recognized "the penumbra of privacy". It made *contraception* legal.
I don't think Scalia does, either.

Growing up on the dividing line between "Southern" Illinois and Chicagoland was an interesting experience. My parents made it a point to take us into the city at least a few times a year, and raised us to be interested in the political shenanigans of Council Wars, etc., in stark contrast to how they were raised on the farms that typify "Downstate." OTOH, many of our friends and classmates were raised to view the city with suspicion and to avoid it at all costs.
