It's almost 8pm and I'm still at work. I need to go home now.

The President of the US is announcing his nominee to the Supremes.
DAMMIT! They're doing a special report on the Supreme Court nomination. I was settling down to watch Hugh Laurie snarking away on "House" and instead I get a news report.
Any idea if this is going to take the full hour?
I'm sure the analysis will.
Do think CBS think it's funny to have John Roberts (though he'll always be J.D. to me) covering the Nomination of John Roberts?
Nah, they were done in 10 minutes. At least on CBS. With John Roberts, who laughed at the end when he said, " I'm John Roberts, blah blah blah...."
I had fun the one and only time I went, but that was because I got to meet Laura, there were cute waiters, and I got to see ita and Kat react to the enforced fun.
Wait a second, I don't mind Buca di Beppo. In fact, I kind of like it, for a chain restaurant with industrial sized portions. The enforced fun is completely ignorable by me.
In general, chain restaurants don't bother me, and I even have an unhealthy obsession with some. They are what they are, which is generally bland but somewhat consistent food (consistently bland). The one I'm most obsessed with, Cracker Barrel, isn't in California and I love them because they are road trip food.
In fact, we did an entire road trip where we ate at CB at least once a day. It's pasty white food (mmmm dumplins!) for pasty white people.
I've never actually been to an Olive Garden, but I have this issue with a variety of things -- I like the cheesy mass-market version, I like the fancy "real" version. Not because they are similar, but because they each have something to recommend them.
And, this is what I really meant.
The one I'm most obsessed with, Cracker Barrel, isn't in California and I love them because they are road trip food.
I will always have a fondness for Cracker Barrel, because I once met my sister and her GF there (in Rockford, which is halfway between Chicago and Madison). At that meeting, my youngest son was conceived.
So anybody here have any knowledge or opinion of John Roberts? I think I read about him (that he was the more deliberative of two likely nominees who weren't Gonzales) and the newscasters were talking about how intelligent he is, but, then again, it's not Scalia's intelligence I question.
I love them because they are road trip food.
Waffle House. Pecan waffle. Mmmmmm.
