the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Congrats Stephanie, Esq.!!! (Now there are *2* Buffista Stephanie lawyers -- weird....)

Right on, Emily!!!

Yay Fay!!!

Then, Saturday night, I had an epiphany. Just as vw paid herself with an iPod for school attendance, I can pay myself for doing things that I don't particularly want to but should.

After 2-3 months (or, erm, maybe more) of not working out on a regular basis (>= 3 times a week, cardio that makes me sweat, for at least 30 minutes), I switched locations where I work out (or *didn't* work out), because a change of scenery is always motivating for me, AND I made a deal with myself: if I work out at least 4 times a week for 4 weeks in a row, I'm buying this corset.

I've made it 2 weeks of 4 workouts per week, and I'm on track for this week. Onward! To infinity corset, and beyond!

So THAT'S what you do innocently. Knew there had to be something.

That's fantastic, Tep. I'm hoping to maybe take yoga (or cardio kickboxing, we haven't decided) maybe next month, but I'm extremely nervous because I don't seem to have any kind of stick-to-itness at all, and the more so when it involves a) leaving the house and b) physical exertion.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Yay, libkitty!

We're busy trying to learn how to live on the extreme cheap (which won't solve everything, and just delays things like the daycare hunt--we're waitlisted, and have been since before she was born, but that doesn't mean we'll get in before I have to go back to work). So no rewards for us--other than not going even more broke--but still a lot of habit changing going on.

We haven't eaten out in a few weeks, not even fast food.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Whew.

It's over.

And I kind of feel like I rocked his world, honestly. I told him everything he wanted to hear, even before he wanted to hear it.

The one caveat: he let me know that, for this position, they still may end up going with someone who has a lot of industry experience, because it's a new department and they need someone who can get in the groove quickly. He did let me speak to that (I told him I was a fast learner and I really enjoyed interacting with customers/clients (referencing my two days of retail experience)), and he seemed pleased with my answer (having stated that he knew it was a difficult question).

The anti-caveat: as soon as they get the department up and running, however, they would need junior medical writers, and I was pretty much a fucking shoe-in for that. He didn't use those exact words, but he was very emphatic in his recommendation. So if I don't get this job now, it's very likely I would get it in a month or two.

Someone will call to follow up in a couple days.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

Woot! PC, that's great.

Man, so much good news today! Yay for Stephanie the wonder woman; yay for Emily the math goddess, yay and double yay for Fay getting to teach AND learn all at one go... If there was more, I forgot it in the overwhelming wave of yayness. Tep, that's an awesome corset. go you.

Beej, I hope your friend hears good mom news soon.

Whoohoo, P-C! That sounds like good news whichever way it goes. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the higher level job, though. :)

Libkitty, I think you've discovered a fabulous way to keep yourself on track. On what will you spend your new found wealth? Should we be making suggestions? Steph seems to have an awesome eye for corsets...

To exercise, I rely on peer pressure. The spin class teacher now knows my name, and I am scared she will call me out if I don't pedal fast enough.

P-C, congrats on the phone interview. It sounds like it went very well, indeed. Someday maybe I'll see you in KC, as that's where my husband's family lives.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Congrats P-C! I'm so impressed that it looks like you're going to actually make a living doing what you want to do. These things always seem to take longer than anticipated, but I'm still always amazed when they actually happen. In this case, not surprised though.

So no rewards for us--other than not going even more broke--but still a lot of habit changing going on.

I was thinking about that, Plei. It would have been problematic for me even a year or so ago. But it's still not impossible. There are other things you can reward yourself with, but it takes a lot more creativity and energy, which may or may not defeat the purpose of the reward. Anyway, it sounds like you're doing well without the carrot, which is all for the good.

I think I can come up with plenty of ways to spend my "newfound wealth," Sparky! Although suggestions are always welcome, I have a pretty good list already, ranging from decadent things like DVDs to more practical things like the down payment on a house, with plenty of things in between (iPod, laptop, big basic cable, tunes for the iPod, to name just a few).
