That's fantastic, Tep. I'm hoping to maybe take yoga (or cardio kickboxing, we haven't decided) maybe next month, but I'm extremely nervous because I don't seem to have any kind of stick-to-itness at all, and the more so when it involves a) leaving the house and b) physical exertion.

We're busy trying to learn how to live on the extreme cheap (which won't solve everything, and just delays things like the daycare hunt--we're waitlisted, and have been since before she was born, but that doesn't mean we'll get in before I have to go back to work). So no rewards for us--other than not going even more broke--but still a lot of habit changing going on.

We haven't eaten out in a few weeks, not even fast food.

Whew.

It's over.

And I kind of feel like I rocked his world, honestly. I told him everything he wanted to hear, even before he wanted to hear it.

The one caveat: he let me know that, for this position, they still may end up going with someone who has a lot of industry experience, because it's a new department and they need someone who can get in the groove quickly. He did let me speak to that (I told him I was a fast learner and I really enjoyed interacting with customers/clients (referencing my two days of retail experience)), and he seemed pleased with my answer (having stated that he knew it was a difficult question).

The anti-caveat: as soon as they get the department up and running, however, they would need junior medical writers, and I was pretty much a fucking shoe-in for that. He didn't use those exact words, but he was very emphatic in his recommendation. So if I don't get this job now, it's very likely I would get it in a month or two.

Whoohoo, P-C! That sounds like good news whichever way it goes. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the higher level job, though. :)

Libkitty, I think you've discovered a fabulous way to keep yourself on track. On what will you spend your new found wealth? Should we be making suggestions? Steph seems to have an awesome eye for corsets...

To exercise, I rely on peer pressure. The spin class teacher now knows my name, and I am scared she will call me out if I don't pedal fast enough.

P-C, congrats on the phone interview. It sounds like it went very well, indeed. Someday maybe I'll see you in KC, as that's where my husband's family lives.

Congrats P-C! I'm so impressed that it looks like you're going to actually make a living doing what you want to do. These things always seem to take longer than anticipated, but I'm still always amazed when they actually happen. In this case, not surprised though.

I was thinking about that, Plei. It would have been problematic for me even a year or so ago. But it's still not impossible. There are other things you can reward yourself with, but it takes a lot more creativity and energy, which may or may not defeat the purpose of the reward. Anyway, it sounds like you're doing well without the carrot, which is all for the good.

I think I can come up with plenty of ways to spend my "newfound wealth," Sparky! Although suggestions are always welcome, I have a pretty good list already, ranging from decadent things like DVDs to more practical things like the down payment on a house, with plenty of things in between (iPod, laptop, big basic cable, tunes for the iPod, to name just a few).

Gas prices some places in the Twin Cities went up 50 cents a gallon today.

We've been over $3 in Illinois, around here anyway, for a while now. It'll be interesting to see how high it gets.
