I think a politician could do well with the message that people should be entitled to health care as a citizen instead of as an employee lucky enough to be employed by someone who can and will provide it.
I'm thinking of running for office and having this be my entire platform. The system is so fucked up.
I think it really is only a matter of time before the idea of National Health Care gets into the political arena. Lots of people are fed up with health care and every over developed country has a national system.
Yes, but the average American doesn't give a damn what they do in other countries. Most people just have faith that the American way of doing things is the best.
Plus the whole Reaganistic idea that "The government is the problem, not the solution" is so well entrenched it will take a long time to undo.

Bwah!
Toto could be my running mate. "Treats for everyone!" could be his platform.
The way National Health Care will happen in the US will be the same way it happened in Canada.
Eventually, some state is going to get fed up and implement it on its own. The state will be mocked and openly attacked by every conservative pundit in the country. But when it turns out that it actually works, it will go national.

Absolutely. (The "But Sweden does it!" angle won't work, but the "As Americans, you're entitled to lots of free shit" angle seems a no-brainer.)
