Depends on the facility. Some of them are up there with the ritzy health clubs.
Spike's Bitches 25 to Life
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
My local one is $100 to sign up and $70/month!! I just want to take a Parent and Tot swim class! I can't even buy a day pass.
Oh, that sucks. But are you sure they're not quoting you for a health club membership? The one I used to go to had different class rates for members/non-members so you didn't have to go whole hog just to take a class.

That's about how much mine is. (I could get a discount through my office, but the gym 2 blocks from me is only $59/month and they waived the sign-up fee, so....yeah. Not doing the Y thing.)
I have to go whole hog just to take the class. Have to be a full on member.
Sucky. I think you should throw this at them:
Please remember that our commitment is that no person will be denied membership to the YMCA based upon inability to pay. If you are concerned about the affordability of YMCA membership, our branch staff will be able to work out a membership plan that fits your needs.
I could aybe do that in a smaller community. In LA, they'll say, "Whatever. So swim in the ocean."
No, that's from the LA site.
Slightly delayed (I'm posting across the baby) cross post with Hec there.
Muy simpatico!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Things to ponder. Class is full until October anyway.
Em loves the water and loves being in it and I want to nurture this as much as possible.
