IMO, the fancy stuff is all cool if the host can pay for it and not expect the guests to shell out, just like those 500-guest fancy weddings are grand as long as no one is mortgaging his or her future for the sake of one party. But better to have a simple party in someone's living room than ask guests to pay.
Yeah, I'd started noticing the kiddie party thing, too. WTF? My birthday parties were always friends at my house playing and eating cake. Occasionally people had parties at Chuck E Cheese or the roller rink or something, and we all thought those kids were SO COOL.
They should have pin the tail on the donkey and MAYBE a clown.
Poor clown. Yes, many are evil, but do they deserve having tails pinned on them?
According to Martha Stewart's minions, showers began in the 1890s as an alternative to dowrys. The mother of the bride and friends would tuck small gifts into parasols and open them above the bride's head...thus the shower. Always wondered about that word...
I have no problem with showers at restaurants, as long as those hosting it are paying for it and can afford it. I know some people who have thrown showers recently who felt it was easier to have them at a restaurant so they could relax and enjoy themselves rather than worry about doing a ton of cooking and having to do all the clean up.
Does any here use Peapod. If so have you noticed their selection has gone way down? They have now stopped carrying the milk I drink, even though Stop & Shop still carries it. I don't think there is another food delivery place around here.
When your company pays for the past few months you can submit the receipts
Yep. It was why this was a good solution all around. But really I just haven't filled scripts or gone to the doctor (next on the to-do list, call doctor about back. demand appt and flexoril.) in the last month and a half. Because even with reimbursement, out of pocket is still that.
Stupid company finally called me back, they swear they sent in the paperwork and they want to "understand what happened" and I just want them to give the information to COBRA, no matter whether it is the first time or not. I think they are overnighting me a packet tomorrow for delivery Thursday. I told them, eh, just fax but I think they are doing both.
My baby shower
I'm still so mad at the blow-out that made me miss this. And? It would have been cheaper than the new tires.
I have good news, and I have bad news.
The good news is that my car insurance has dropped significantly.
The bad news is that the company has changed their installment policies. Instead of being able to spread the premium over 12 months, I now have to pay 30% down to start the policy. Guess I'm gonna be pulling $300 out of my ass again. Boy, my ass is getting tired from all that money pulling.
My FB (former boss) had a beautiful baby shower at a hotel. It was for High Tea.
I would like it known that contrary to any rumours you may have heard, I have never been high. Well, maybe that one night while I was trying to watch South Park.
Aimee, I'm very glad you set your boundaries. You know where your priorities lie, and this woman is a footnote.
I have been to very few showers, but every single one was at someone's house with cake and finger foods.
The one bachelorette party was a personal shower (at the MoH's house with a cake and finger foods) and drinks/dancing at a local country bar. We all were going to pay for our own drinks, but the MoH thought about that ahead of time and made sure the party was on Ladies' Night. We had free drinks all night long.
