I took a look at the hotel restaurant prices for the shower/party on Saturday and the entrees were averaging around $30/each. I emailed the MoH and other bridesmaids and said, "That's a bit overboard to expect guests to spend on dinner. Let's go to restaurant X where it's a bit more reasonable."

I have never even heard of having a shower at a restaurant, much less one that expensive. Don't they know that a) guests don't pay for food and drinks, and b) this is important, because they will probably end up paying through the nose for shower and wedding gifts.
