Happy Birthday Fay!
Hang in there {{{{{susan}}}}}
In total mememe here is what I am eating:
Two bluefish fillets I bought at the greenmarket yesterday from the guy who caught them the day before. They have been lightly dusted with flower and quickly fried in butter. No salt, no pepper, no nothin-- not even lemon. They taste like heaven.
Their accompaniement is cherokee purple tomatoes and mayonaise on a really nice portugese bread. Oh, and salt I brought back from SLC when I saw Amy Parker.
I am pretty much in simple food preserved simply heaven.
(while trying to kill the Kenmore than will still suck and won't die, but keeps falling apart mid-clean)
I can help. I've killed before so there is already
blood dust on my hands.
Huuuuuuuungry now.
Update: Now I've killed off the tomato. I was forced to sop up a big puddle of juice with my bread before mayo and matering it. Now I'm looking at fiesta Giles.
This doesn't suck.
Thanks for the link, Jessica. I have a really pretty spice rack that is test tubes in a metal case, but I didn't know how to replace the spices when they were empty. I sent away for the catalog.
Susan the funeral sounds very nice an dthe eulogy sounds like a good idea.
I went to the farmer's market today...actually two. I ended up only getting white acre peas, although there was lots of okra tempting me. I got home and realized I'm not sure how to cook white acre peas.
Although I think Mom can help me with that. I went through some of her recipes for the Buffista cookbook, and found a few "recipes" that are just lists of ingredients. I was asking her for directions and she kept saying "combine ingredients and bake", she got tickled because I kept pressing her for more detailed instructions (and in some cases amounts) and she couldn't really give me more details, although I did coax some out of her.
Penzy's is awesome and Tom now wants a wall o'spice. He's been hankering for it since seeing AB's, but now wants to even more.
Thanks, Jessica, that's just what I needed to know. They've got some other interesting containers and it's getting me thinking of creative Christmas ideas. Hmmm.
askye, thanks for reminding me I need to type up my recipes for the Buffista cookbook! Eep. I started them a while ago, got interrupted and now that I have the time, I should darn well finish them up!
Not cooking related, but very very very cute: baby hedgehogs.
