[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Susan, did you happen to see my thought upthread that you may not be getting nibbles because of summer/vacation/July/August issues?

I did. It's certainly possible that some of the jobs I've been assuming I'll be rejected for just because I haven't heard anything yet are in summer slow motion because they haven't been able to get all the relevant people in the room at the same time to discuss the resumes. And I hope there will be more listings once Labor Day is past and offices fill up again.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Especially at a university, I'd think August is pretty much a no-go.

move out and draw fire

I got a 30-minute nap while the kitling did, and it was w o n d e r f u l! And got rid of my headache for a bit, although now I may be starting to get the auras that precede a migraine.

I know you are all riveted.

But here's a bitchly question: I've been informed that if anyone finds out I haven't bought dress shoes in 10 years I'll have to turn in my XX-chromosome card. So I'm shoe-shopping. Are Fluevogs comfortable? What about the character shoes or dance shoes discussed upthread?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have a follow up character shoe question -- how durable are the soles? I was thinking that if they have to hold up for dance, they should be durable, but I don't know how that'd translate into everyday wear.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I don't think that character shoe soles would hold up too well for everyday wear -- they'd be fine if you just wore them on wood floors, but I'd bet that walking on pavement would wear them down pretty quickly.
