Spike's Bitches 25 to Life

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

My surname is simple, but liable to be mis-spelled. As well as being a surname, it's also a (fairly well known) girl's Christian name. Usually when it's a surname, though, it's the masculine (-is) spelling, rather than the feminine (-es) spelling. Thus the following exchange:

"...how do you spell that?"

"ES at the end. It's France - you know, like the country France. Only with an S at the end."

You'd think that this would work as instructions for how to spell a name, wouldn't you? It's not rocket science. It's not puzzlingly foreign. it's a pretty standard name. I can't believe the number of utterly blank looks or baffled silences on the phone that it gets me, from people who then proceed to spell it wrong anyway.

(Also my first name has a sooper seekrit silent H lurking in the middle, just for that added element of nobody-can-spell-my-name-even-though-it's-not-very-exotic)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Kristin had this post in her LJ about what "jokes" can you absolutely not bear. For the record, mine is people messing with my first name. I find it, at best, irritating. At best.

Feel free to riff on the whole self-injuring thing, if you need something to poke at. Just not the name.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Waves frantically!!! I missed y'all so much. I decided to "consolidate" my usernames to minimize confusion. Since I think I have to pay to change it here, I figured fixing it here would be easier (THANKS to the stompy who was so quick).

Sorry.

What Perkins said. Sorry.

Hypothesising about my last name is fine. I get irrational about modifications to my first though. I get that people don't get that, and should probably work out a witty way to say it, but the last time I tried, it just made everything escalate.

Sorry if it sounded brusque.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Hey, nothing wrong with a little brusque, when brusque is called for.
