Lilty, I'd wait to give notice until I got something new, only because it always seems to me that people who have jobs have an easier time getting jobs, than the jobless. It's like the Employment Sprites get annoyed when people give up a paying job before they've secured a new one. But, I know a lot of people who would think not only the opposite, but would tell the Employment Sprites to eat it.
I still want to know what character shoes are, though.
I hate to give notice unless I've been offered a position elsewhere, but if you've interviewed with a staffing agency, you're probably pretty solid to at least get temp work to keep the paychecks coming. But it's a tough call.
These are character shoes, Cindy:

They can be worn with a lot of period clothes and look "right" (especially with spats or other additions) and they can have taps added if needed. Also, they are comfy. Every actress I knew just out of college also used them for "dress up" shoes as well.
If you give your notice this week, will you be able to come to the JZ party?
Alas, no. But if I gave
no
notice I could! That's not a bad idea. I do want to do it this week, because otherwise someone else will first, and they will try to take my weekend off away in two weeks, when I'm going to my friend's wedding. If I do it this week, I'd be done just before.
Sorry Cindy, I'd meant to reply to that! Character shoes are basically a simple pair of heels, good for dancing in musicals and such when no other specific footwear is called for. You can put taps on them, too.
Those are the shoes I've been looking for!
Oh, I like the character shoes. Thanks Robin, Jess, and Lilty. I know it's too late, but yes, you can wear those to an interview.
You can put taps on them, too.
I'm suddenly charmed by thought of Lilty putting these on for her interviews so she can tap dance her way to a new job.
By the way, are you in the same neck of the woods you were, in case I'm heading up any time soon?
Also, virtual hugs and all for all the family members affected.
Um. I'm pissed. Really, really pissed. And I can't do anything about it because Big!Boss is in a meeting.
Not only have they taken back the offer of health insurance, but now they are taking back sick/personal time. Pissed off does not even cover how I'm feeling right now.
Those are the shoes I've been looking for!
They're fairly cheap, they come in all sizes and widths, the heel isn't stupid looking--gosh.
