This here's a recipe for unpleasantness.

Spike's Bitches 25 to Life

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

What is even happening?

What's up with this early teething thing, anyhow? I wasn't exactly prepared for it. Pete blames the comics, says I obviously did something weird trying to get her super powers, and this is my punishment or some such rot.

Julia teethed early, although it wasn't *this* early. She was about 4 months. Poor Lily, and poor Mama and Daddy, too. Is she too young for Baby Ora-jel? It's a topical gel you rub on the gums. It might provide temporary relief, during her biggest freak outs.

The Tylenol may not be the culprit for the tummy upset. It might be something to try again, in a day or so.

My husband's aunts would tell you to rub whiskey on her gums, but I won't and wouldn't have done it. They seemed to not understand my choice.

Oh, I forgot. How did the wedding go for you? I mean obviously it wasn't fun having Lily reveal her secret identity as Super Crank. But were you relatively happy with what you wore, and feeling good about yourself? What did you do with your hair? Were you comfy?

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I mean obviously it wasn't fun having Lily reveal her secret identity as Super Crank.

She was really good for most of it, and only got cranky towards the end of the night, so her secret identity is still safe.

Mostly, I felt hot. As in, overly warm. Many people, west-facing building, weak or no AC. People I hadn't wanted to see... were not there! Shocking, I know.

I wore the Motherwear dress (they run a little large, so if I order another like it, I may go with a large instead of an XL), black low heeled Munro opera shoes, which I linked to in Natter a while back. I think they proved that I shouldn't buy shoes online, for as cute as they are, and as much room as they have in the toebox, I still get smushed from the top down. Thick. My feet are thick. They are barely wide, but they are thick. I propose a new shoe measurement: depth. I'd be a 6CD under my system (which would go, shallow, medium, deep). Right, back to the outfit, a crocheted bolero top from Target, black nylons that I ditched after the ceremony when they sprung a second run (new pair, Hanes, never buying them again), a garnet necklace and earrings, and my usual rings (wedding set, and an antique solitaire on my right hand that's only mine until she turns 16, then she gets it).

Makeup was 50s-ish: black liner, black mascara, strong brow, deep red lips. Hair was as usual. It's pretty much wash and wear with this cut.

There are no photos of me, on account of the hot.

Great!

I have the same thing going on with my feet. There are lots of shoes I can't wear, because they cut across the top of my feet. For some reason, it seems worse with the low shoes. I think I have a high instep or something.

The all-put-together outfit sounds lovely, except for the hot part. I went to a wedding on a 90-something degree day in August, maybe 8 years ago, or so. The air conditioning was broken. Dinner was served buffet style. We were in line to get our food, when I suddenly felt a small, cool breeze. I realized I was standing close to the ever-shrinking ice sculpture. For the rest of the night, I found whatever reason I could to stand near it, and told nobody of my secret cooling plan, except for dh. Heat + fancy clothes = awful. I don't know how the bride stood it. She was in a fairly traditional gown. They would have had to take me out on a stretcher.

Makeup was 50s-ish: black liner, black mascara, strong brow, deep red lips. Hair was as usual. It's pretty much wash and wear with this cut.

Pretty pretty!

move out and draw fire

With one exception, every wedding I've been to was either way too hot or way too cold.

Lily looks like a little doll in her tulip dress!

You know what sucks? Doing your hair and putting on makeup, then catching yourself in the mirror and still looking like you just woke up.

Now tagless for your comfort.

O started at three months. We lived by the frozen washclothes. I think he actually got every single tooth he was supposed to have by 10 months. So, on the bright side, we are completely done with teething until the 2 year molars come in.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Possible numberslutting to wish Plei good luck with the early teething escapades.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Dressed-up Lily is such a doll.

I'm with you on the movement to have shoes come in depth measurements. I have bone spurs on the top of my feet.

Art Crawl!!!

One of our new staff members brought in a tiny, yet delicious chocolate cake today.

The reason?

Because she wanted to eat chocolate cake.

Perhaps it is random chocolate cake day?

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Wally report! I'm feeling just a little cheeky right now. There's a woman who put on her profile that she's an attractive redhead, interested in fantasy writing (Tolkein, Feist, Eddings among her fave authors), looking for intelligent conversation with a guy who has a sharp sense of humour and can leave her speechless. All good signs, and very challenging. So I decided I'd turn it around, and wrote back saying that her profile sounded like a person I'd like to know, and I'm all agog to find out if she'll live up to it. We'll see how she reacts.

Meanwhile, an etiquette question: I want to send the woman with whom I had a date on Sunday a note saying I enjoyed it etc. I'm not overly worried about making any faux pas, but anyone have thoughts on possible pitfalls or good things to include?
