Jayne: Yeah, that was some pretty risky sittin' you did there. Wash: That's right, of course, 'cause they wouldn't arrest me if we got boarded, I'm just the pilot. I can always say I was flying the ship by accident.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Why do the Mariners suck?

There are blogs upon blogs devoted to that question. DH could probably answer it better than I and he's out with his fantasy league peeps, but....

1. Ownership tried to hang onto aging core too long after magical 2001 season.
2. Bad luck with pitchers--all of our stellar prospects keep getting hurt.
3. Stupid, stupid personnel moves. (Sure wish we still had Carlos Guillen.)
4. We only have the one Ichiro.

DH thinks we could contend again as early as next year, because we'll finally be in a position to offload some salary commitments and rebuild properly, but that's contingent on Bill Bavasi being smart, and I don't think he's capable of that.

ION, after Ichiro's hit I decided to switch to Tivo and catch up on some Doctor Who. I keep putting off watching the rest because (spoiler font for the heck of it) I doubt I'll like the Tenth doctor one trillionth as much as the Ninth, so I'm trying to stretch the episodes out as long as I can so I can pretend Hot!Doctor isn't going away so soon. Anyway, I think the time has come to be careful about what grown-up TV I watch in front of Annabel. She's definitely responding to the emotional cues onscreen. When the characters are frightened or angry, she looks to me for reassurance, and she probably doesn't need that kind of stimulation on a regular basis. Though it was cute in the end when some of the characters were being really exuberant with the happy ending and she was jumping and cheering right along with them.

What is even happening?

Oh, how I suck. Let me count the ways... The latest? Emily thinks she's coming home to one of her favorite dinners. I, unfortuantely, have decided that the chili, the key ingredient in chili-baked potatoes, is no longer any good. So, I've ordered pizza as I am too exhausted to think about making anything else for dinner.

I don't worry this much about feeding my husband and children, and there's blood, vows, and legal responsibility involved, in addition to love.

Yup, I sometimes even scare Dave, but I am the most hardcore in my hate for A-Rod. Can't stand him since he hit that ball out of Arroyo's hand.

I ♥ you, sj. Your Red Sox love is so pure. A-Rod mockage is great sport in our home. You'd like it here.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Had craptastic afternoon at work. Literally was yelling with coworker who is not really expendable to the company. But, damn, he is just a jack ass and I hit my limit.

I really, really wasn't wrong. As opposed to my usual MustBeRightness, I actually just simply wasn't wrong this time.

Then I sat in a dark room, rocking silently for about five minutes after because I was so upset.

And I am, frankly, just bitching here.

Drawing a nice hot bath, took meds for the stress headache that isn't really surprising, watching old Buffy eps, going to bed... This concludes the night of Cass.

I skimmed: ((Buffistas who need))

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

Can't stand him since he hit that ball out of Arroyo's hand.

Wrod. Nobody better mess with my boy! 'Specially that jackass.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

jackass.
It's the wrod of the day...

WindSparrow, thanks for the kitty time-out info. Puppycat could have used it last night as she was bitey. Her eyes were huge and all black, she was evil. Then she snuggled. It's like Combo #1 with her.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Cass, you are most welcome. I came up with my time-out policy from necessity. One night Harvey and Sammie were fighting so bad, I just stuck Harvey (who appeared to be the aggressor) under a laundry basket and lectured him. A few weeks later I was reading a book by an animal communicator who recommended time-outs, and I refined how I did things, but was greatly comforted knowing I was neither crazy nor cruel for doing it.

Possibly the lecture was a bit over the top.

Nah, I was trying to reason with puppycat last night and she falls off of the bed on a regular basis. Also, you can pet her side and Oops! she falls down. I still try to reason first.

FTR, "No bites!" with a firm finger pointing at her? Makes her do the arm back, pointing thing right back atcha and she's got claws. We are still, apparently, learning.

I have the perfect basket all picked out for the next lesson. Just determining what to weight it with. Perhaps the other cat, she would enjoy the mocking.

Wahhh! My throat, which was vaguely hurting all day, has now turned into a festival of "OW FUCKING OW" as in I can only barely swallow...on one side. WTF? It's just half my throat that hurts, apparently. I mean, swallowing is painful. But the pain is definitely one-sided. What is that about? Medical-y buffistas?

Also, I know many of you have been in long-distance relationships. Which I am not in. A relationship. But I am still frustrated by the distance from my new umfriend. Tell me that I am not crazy for trying to see her again soon, and that I will not explode if "soon" is >3 weeks.
