Grape-Nuts is a breakfast cereal developed by C. W. Post, a patient and later competitor of the 19th-century breakfast food innovator, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg. Neither grapes nor nuts have ever been ingredients in the cereal. The dextrose in whole-grain kernels was once called grape sugar, and this, combined with the "nutty" flavor of cereal, inspired its name.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

My dear daughter, for reasons unbeknownst to me, chose to wake up at 5:00 this morning rather than her usual 8:00 or so. This of course happens when I'm feeling vaguely sick and sleep deprived. DH had mercy upon me and once it was clear she had no intentions of going back to sleep took her out of the room. I managed another hour of sleep, during which I had a nightmare that I was pregnant again.

ION, the official forecasted high today in Cincinnati is "unholy inferno of suffering and heatstroke." Or, okay, 100. For real. I am fucking sick and tired of this heat. The heat index is supposed to be something insane like 110.

I feel for you as that was my day yesterday. Unholy hot for Chicago. It was a day I set altars to the people who invented air conditioning.
