I don't know what an AD is
Me neither. Or at least - I read it as Sean being Alexis Denisof for a bit, but I suspect that this may not be what he meant.
Is it maybe Assistant Director?
Yes. AD in this case meant Assistant Director, which is the guy who has to herd cats wrangle the movie shoot day to day. Keeping everybody focused, on track, and moving. It's surprising how quickly even people who want to make a movie will succumb to inertia, which brings the whole production grinding to a halt.
The AD also makes up the schedules and call sheets, and reports to production about how the shoot is progressing each day.
Any other suggestions? Make me look smart, people! Make me look resourceful! While you're at it, make me look like James Dean!
Ask her out on a date, and add that if she accepts, then it will be technically true that she is dating someone.
The first AD on a film is very similar to a Stage Manager in theatre in my experience.

I'm enjoying this conversation far too much to risk it at this juncture. Your idea is noted, however.
Fortune favors the brave, David.

Oh yeah. There's lots of similarities.
So how's the weekend been going Sean? I'm just trying to say ahead of the heat.
Yeah, that's most of what we're doing - trying to beat the heat. We're about to drive up to Thousand Oaks to visit some of S's relatives that are in town.
Tomorrow, I'll be up at the Colony, helping strike the Sherlock set.
And then Tuesday, I've got my weeknight game.
It's 100 degrees here and the dog wants to go out. Someone tell her to stop being craxy, please.
