Try closing your eyes, Allyson.
No, no, I'm serious. I've found that to help. Can't hurt, right?
'Just Rewards (2)'
[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.
Try closing your eyes, Allyson.

What Betsy said, and Katie. Also, when you really need a break from the work, try something non-computer, like playing with Ruby, just for 5 or 10 minutes, to clear your mind a little.
Shouldn't be this hard, suddenly.
As you would say to me: You're thinking too hard and freaking yourself out. Don't make me hide the keys to your Firebird.

Hey Allyson! I got PIRATE STUFF!
And I've been in training for a week and am brain-fried and my phone is behaving mysteriously. But right now there's a wee little pirate-man sitting in Angel's lap, and that's all that matters. Thank you!
AWESOME! Finally. Only like, a week late.
Angel would totally bone a pirate.
Oh, it should have been here last Friday but [razzle frazzle UPS bastard-people]. You're way ahead of Mugga, who's been promising me a pirate book for months. Sob.
Years ago I got two of the Angel books (from the used rack at the library, not that I'm defensive at all) and in one he's kind of a pirate. Man. I need to find those and reread them, because they were so amazingly incoherent.
I appear to have hit the "mindless rambling" portion of exhaustion. Whee! Oh, and I'm taking tomorrow off, so if you have another Beta-reading spree please count me in.
