[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.
Dude! 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea! Captain Nemo on rails!
I hereby nominate Betsy for Grand Czar of World Transit.
That would be some migraine-inducing travel, right there.
Oh God. My first visit to Disneyworld back in '88 I waited in line in the hot Florida sun two hours for that ride, which turned out to be the nearest facsimile of Hell I've ever experienced outside a Chuck E. Cheese's restaurant.
Jesse, you are brilliant! I was able to get my voicemail at home to text message my cell phone when I have a message.
Woo hoo! Yay technology.
I had an excellent airplane experience on Wednesday. I love flying the shuttle during actual business hours -- on a half-hour flight, they actually gave us lunch!!
Through some miracle of Internet-ma, my very late-booked reservations from Atlanta-Oakland through Phoenix wound up being first class for the first leg. My husband kept expecting the gendarmes to come march past the curtain and drag us back to the peasants, but instead we had adequate legroom and real frozen waffles.
I just experienced a long cushy luxurious train trip. I got on the train at 8:30 this morning, arrived at Union Station at 9:11 this evening and got off the bus and into my apartment around 11pm.
That is a very long trip, Aurelia. I hope your seat was comfy, at least.
I think trains are now my prefered method of long distance travel.
So, my preferences for distance travel are, in order:
- train
- car
- plane
- suicide (thus obviating the need for travel)
- bus
I rarely have enough time for trains to be viable. Especially when they cost as much or as more as the plane -- there needs to be a tradeoff.
