And all I'm saying I believe Cordelia assumed the line ran from Buffy to Kendra to Faith, and that season 7 made me wonder otherwise, and Joss saying "It goes like this unless I change my mind" doesn't affect my opinion at all.
I'm not searching to disbelieve what I've seen onscreen. My earliest comments in today's discussion acknowledged that believing the line now goes through Faith is the easiest. I still do believe that. It is just that I have also seen things that might be contradictory onscreen, including Buffy getting the axe that features in Fray, and the FE being able to be more assertive, because of some imbalance caused by Buffy.
I thought it was said by someone in season 7 Buffy.
When did Cordy say this?
Also, buffy may have gotten the ax, but Faith felt the same power going through it, while no one else did. So That could deffiantly say Faith was on equal ground as Buffy power wise(plus it being Buffy's show, she needed to get the ax). As for the First, yeah he was agressive, in his passive aggresive whining at Buffy, but like Angelus and many others he could have just underestimated Faith. He did seem threatened enough by Faith to apear to her, just as she was doing so well and to try and attack her in the prison.
And here is another thought, if the first got his power because of all the holes Buffy keeps punching into the line, who is to say it did not get the ulitmate power up with all these Slayers now called? She just killed the bringers not the first in the finale. So he is deffinatly still out there. And in the end really W&H arer what killed the bringers....so it could just be case of Buffy /Angel and both groups trapped into a cosmic fight between both powers(we also know they were not killed in Angel's finale) to see who can control the earth.
Maybe in the end that is what Fray will be. And Buffy, Faith and all the others have to sacrafice the power, which makes it revert to the original alive slayer, Buffy.
When did Cordy say this?
In season 3's
Faith, Hope and Trick,
Cordelia said:
I get it. Not the horny thing -- yuck -- the two slayer thing: there was only one, but then Buffy died for like two minutes so Kendra was called, then Kendra died so Faith was called.
More could have been said in season 7. I have no idea. I don't think I've ever rewatched the whole season.
Thanks Cindy.
My sister informed me that it was Marti Noxin who was talking to Joss and other writers and they were reminded about Faith and the line in one of their storyboard meetings. So they had all forgotten about Faith as well. This is what is on the commentary.
By the way sorry to start this whole mess.
I was wondering what was up with the ninety-something new since I looked in here last. Now I see it's all crazy Buffy talk.
No, some were guesses on how Allyson's pony was going to meet a gruesome fate.....
Not to delurk just to throw more ammunition on the fire, but tonight I was rewatching "Grave," (s6, ep.22) and caught this exchange when Buffy was talking about coming back from the dead:
Buffy: "I just don't understand why I'm back."
Giles: "You have a calling."
Buffy: "But it was my time, Giles. Someone would have taken my place."
Of course I'm reading into this, but the "someone" in that sentence implies to me that "someone" new would be called. Someone new, due to Buffy's line. And that both Buffy and Giles seemed to believe this.
I know nothing about Slayers. Sorry, I just don't.
Strega, I went back and listened to the "Billy" commentary. It's AWFUL. What a pompous, loud mouthed, attention seekng HACK. Every word SCREAMS 'PLEASE LOVE ME!!!!"
That is the LAST time I do a commentary with Jeff Bell.
I think you should call your next show, "Everybody is Wrong but Tim."
