What is even happening?

Explain to me why Buffy can't be the last slayer. I don't see what the line has to do with that.

You're right, it doesn't have anything to do with that. It was the "line" line in Got Life's question that caught my eye.

I don't know what "called" even means. It doesn't seem to me that it's anything the CoW does.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

We know one of these things Buffy is not, but the other two are up for grabs, AFAIK.

I'm pretty confident she can only be one of those.

I was sorry when "My Yoda!" became obsolete, because it was just the funnest line evar

Are we to pretend it never happened? Because with the retcon sire-definition, it's still valid, and I still find it funny.

The Yoda part's still good, anyhow. They were in a little pack or whatever the collective is for vampires. Angel certainly influenced Spike's ways, I'm sure.

My mind is going to a Documentary on the problem of the Childe Gange, now.

Hey, I still hold to "Sometimes the dark is pretty dark and you need a good story", even though it was cut from reruns and the DVD.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I don't understand why Buffy couldn't be the last called slayer. All she has to do is outlive everyone called since her.

Given Death's track record with her so far, I'd say she has a good chance of evading it longer than any of the others.

Hey, I still hold to "Sometimes the dark is pretty dark and you need a good story", even though it was cut from reruns and the DVD.

Wait, they cut that from the Season 2 DVD? Clutches bulky first-run videotape collection to breast and never, ever lets go...

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

When was this? (Came into Buffy very late.)

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

And if the line only goes through Faith, I'm still left wondering why the the balance between good and evil is out of whack enough to let the FE act up so much.

Plus, the line has been out of whack since Buffy died at the hands of the Master and Kendra was called. That's when the entire slayer line diverged. So why would the FE wait until Buffy came back a second time to cause a rumpus? It presumably had cause long before season 7. That particular "revelation" always seemed more than a bit ass-pully.
