You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

We caption a lot of NBC shows and for each episode we have to split bill--half to NBC Universal in LA and half to NBC-NY. Same company, but for some weird bookkeeping reason, that's how they do it.

It makes it easier for management accounting, forecasting and reporting within the separate units. Not that I would know anything about that.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

It's important to allocate your costs between your subsidiaries correctly so you can tell which ones are giving you a good return and which ones are costing you more than outsourcing and so forth. Shell messed that up pretty bad back when they were all vertically integrated - the refineries bought crude at a fair market price but sold it to (wholly owned subsidiary) retailers at an artificially low price. Mgmt looked at the numbers and thought that refining wasn't making anymoney, so didn't build more plants. Which is one reason gas prices are high today - regardless of the suppky of oil, the refining process is a bottleneck reducing the supply of gasoline to consumers.

I'm sure there are similar decision making processes at work in film/tv production.

And that's the most I've used my MBA in a year. Sad, really.

(Heh, an all-Tamara x-post)

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I'm all for divisional accounting, but making your vendors split the bill seems kind of shitty. Why do you have to pick up the cost for their structure? I hope you charge them for that.

I also know that GE's weird accounting is why it took forever for NBC to merge with another entertainment company, unlike ABC/Cap Cities/Disney, etc.

bon bon, it depends on who has the power. If the customer has more power then the bill will be split up. If the supplier has more power, the bill will be split up and allocated by the customer's accounting group.

edited to be topicy.

I can't wait for Jane's ep tonight.

I can't wait for Jane's ep tonight.

I'm very excited. She's my hero.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Ooh, Jane's writing tonight? Yay!

Hey. New board.

there are certain flashback shots of her that remind me of Evan Rachel Wood.

Oooh. Yes. Want Once and Again Season Two DVDs right now, I do. Also, that movie with ERW and Ed Norton. Also, for ERW to become super-popular but not evil like so many other child actresses. Also, for her and Amber Tamblyn to do a project together. Okay, obsession over.

It's not like Tim put "Joan of Arcadia" on the marquee.

Totally should've. And I keep meaning to mention that I love your tag, and forgetting.

Also, yay Jane episode! Yay NEW episode! Yay Wednesday!

Too bad I still don't have a TV. I tried to buy one, but the one I wanted was not in stock at Circuit City. It was going to be a $600 impulse purchase too: they missed out hardcore.

I may have to seize the cat.

Evan Rachel Wood is from NC. Her dad is a big deal here in theatre. I think secretly though he's running a child-star farm, because Frankie Muniz came out of his theatre too, as did a kid who was maybe the last or next to last Gavroche on Broadway.

Hey. New board.

If he trained his daughter, man's got skillz. She's one of my favorite actresses, and she's, what, 16? Totally ridiculous.

So much better than everybody else in Once and Again. I loved Season 1, but I'm hoping madly for more Jesse in Season 2 to make it even better. And I know I get more in Season 3, so hopefully there won't be ANOTHER 4 year break in DVD releases this time.
