[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

What is even happening?

I also loved Homefront. I didn't watch it all the way through, and I can't remember why. What's that site we pestered about getting Wonderfalls on DVD? Does anyone have a link handy? I think we should let them know we want Homefront, and we should let that Homefront fansite know about the DVD site, too.

Kristen: "IIRC, he wasn’t the engineer on record. His firm had the contract. I don’t remember if he worked on the project or just copied the plans and tattooed them on his body."

Yeah, but…

Even working at the same firm which designed the prison can present a problem. What if he did see and copy the blueprints (which he clearly did)? Factor in his brother being incarcerated at that same prison, as well as his peculiar request to the judge, and…well, if there aren’t any red flags thrown up over this, there should be.

ETA...

What I would buy, is this:

After his brother's incarceration (which he believes to be unjust), he legally changes his last name (to, like, their mother's maiden name, or something really symbolic of his character), finds out who designed the prison, goes to work for them, and so on, and so forth.

That way, if the brothers now have different last names, no one would wonder how they ended up in the same prison (since the court probably wouldn't know of their connection); and how he got ahold of the blueprints (or whatever) would be more calculated, for lack of a better word, than, "Oh, he just happens to work for the same firm."

I've been thinking this very same thing - and been completely unable to remember where it was or succesfully google it.

Anyone? Bueller?

Also Congrats, Allyson!!! Very exciting!!

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Allyson, I'm having dinner with G. tonight, so be prepared to get squeed at by him later.

Actually, Largo I wouldn't be surprised at all if the judge had no idea of the prison retrofitting connection. And the two brothers do not share the same last name. The engineer is Michael Scofield. The death row brother is Lincoln Burrows.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

It's the criminal justice system. It's hard as it is getting the arresting cops to show up. Believe me, NO ONE is checking to see if you worked for a place that designed the prison. It would be very hard to have all the engineering firms on tap, and that's given that knowing how a place was designed means it's easy to escape from it.

Visilurking

I'm with bon bon. I haven't seen the pilot, but if the premise is that a guy who designed a prison has a brother in that prison, it wouldn't be too hard to figure out what crime to commit and where to commit it to get sent to the same prison. And there's no way in hell the system would connect the dots, in fact, it's possible they wouldn't even put together that he had a brother in the same prison.

Wolfram, between that post and your tag, "Part of the PROBLEM since 2002" I'm picturing a whole new career for you. You can advise people who want to break their family out of the joint on which crimes they should commit, and where.
