You know, in all our talk about AW and Chad the former pimp, I can't believe we never discussed Crystal Gale. I would say it was one of the best "celebrity" roles on a soap but John Waite still cracks my shit up.

What is even happening?

She murdered Ross Duncan...which happened years later. And Anne wasn't murdered. Heather tried to frame Anne for the murder of Diana Taylor, who had been foster-mom to her son, Steven Lars, spelling Anne's name with Diana's blood on the floor. But Heather's mother, Alice Grant, turned out to be the real culprit.
Oh, Diana Taylor! That's right. I was watching then, but I'd forgotten all that.

The actress who played Diana also played Rebecca, on DooL, who married Robert (Roh-bair) LeClair friend of Doug Williams (I think Doug got Rebecca pregnant, maybe as a sperm donor or a favor, because Rebecca didn't want Robert to know he was sterile). The actor who played Robert--Robert Clary, was Cpl. LeBeau on Hogan's Heros. Per IMDB, he's been on Y&R, and B&B, too.

Did they play themselves or some characters? I remember Carol Burnett playing a friend of Myrtle Fargate's on "All My Children." MOre recently, Rosie O'Donnell played some maid for Adam Chandler on the soap.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

I have no idea what you people are talking about. Oh yes. Cuss the UK's lack of US soaps.

Right, because if there's anything you folks in the UK need, its the umpteenth version of the Hooker-with-the-Heart-of-Gold marries the Rich Billionaire (who just happens to live in this backwater town) and gives birth to twins who age into adults in 5 years, where one becomes the Evil Twin and tries to have her sister, mom and dad committed, or killed, or banished to the About to be Cancelled Spin-off.

We have Jerry Springer, though, which furfils our White Trash needs.

No, no, no. They played themselves. Like, on AW, at the time of Crystal Gale's appearance, there was a serial killer on the loose and he was stalking Crystal. He, of course, didn't get her.

The then 29-year-old John Waite played himself and had some kind of romantic relationship with the then 16-year-old character of Taryn, played by Nicollette Sheridan. I forget why she didn't run off with him. I think her mother threatened his manager or something.

Hee. But soaps are not White Trash -- well, not most/all of them, anyway. It's just that after all these years, there are really no completely new storylines and the repetition is something. Some of the shows/storylines can be really well-written and acted, but it never lasts forever.

Wow, what celebrity would volunteer to play himself/herself in a serial killer/stalker storyline? Oye.

Is this the "I Ain't Missing You" John Waite?

But...don't they have "Coronation Street"?

ETA:...and "EastEnders"?
