Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Aw, Eddie, thanks.

I'm fierce about not taking credit for DVDs or the flick. However, it's HUGELY important to know that the biggest accomplishment of all of that is that it was enormously important to the cast and crew, very much appreciated at a pretty shitty time when they were repeatedly told no one was watching the show.

So when I get all bitchy and bitter, Kristen reminds me of that.

Your tag here.

Do you feel pushed aside by the new fans or the new Serenity promotions? Like they're obliviously inheriting the fruits of your labor? I think it'd be reasonable for you to feel some ownership, to some degree, over the production and for you not to be recognized by the masses must chafe.

Okay, putting away the couch now.

Awwww. That's sweet.

But, seriously, we're ON the series DVDs and that's incredibly cool. Also, it's where, if anywhere, we belong. We were part of the Firefly TV fandom. The movie fandom is its own entity. I haven't had anything to do with the movie. I didn't help make it happen. I haven't promoted it. I'm not even sure I'll go see it.

It's like...it's like being a GnR fan. Some people went with Axl after the schism. Some went to Velvet Revolver. Some keep wearing their spandex pants and pretending it's still 1990.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

Some of us diehard Browncoats who go to all the cons know exactly who started the ball rolling and got us a Big Damn Movie.

The Variety ad is mentioned often with love and affection by those who have been around for longer than the last year.

You guys aren't forgotten just not as present as you once were. Fans are fickle and the new contingent found the DVDs last week. They know nothing of what was done before.

Ok, I missed a memo. I've never met either of you and I don't think I've even seen pics. Help me out here, were you part of the interviews?

No, it's not that at all. It's not about stuff or credit, as Kristen says, we had nothing to do with Serenity, and we got to walk on the ship and got crew jackets. We got the love and recognition and appreciating from Tim, a bucketload.

But lately I've seen articles about how hard the fans fought and the campaigns and such, and it seems to bleed into Serenity's promotion. And it bothers me. The lack of any sense of shared history bothers me, too. But I think that is due in part because both the Bronze and Buffistas have such a clear, strong connection to history. And sometimes I'm written out of that Firefly history.

were you part of the interviews?

GOD NO. That would require being on camera. The ad is on the DVDs. That's more than enough for me.

know exactly who started the ball rolling and got us a Big Damn Movie.

But, like I said above, I've never believed that the fans had much to do with why Serenity got made. When it was announced, one of the first things I said to Allyson was, "Wow. Universal really wants to be in business with Joss." And I do think that's why they did it. They tossed him a few million to go make the movie he wanted so that, when he was done, he'd turn around and make them some billions on blockbusters like Wonder Woman, etc.

Eddie, Kristen designed the Variety ad. We're not actually physically on them, but since our work (i adore that ad) was on them, we both, i think, feel like we were on them in a way.
