"There's something very liberating about the genre. You can do big, giant metaphors and really hit them hard," says Tim Minear, co-creator of Fox's psychological crime drama "The Inside."
It's true. And you know, it was much easier, even enjoyable in a sick way, to see say...Faith torture Wesley, where I don't think I could watch a scene like that outside of a high concept show.
How many 'West Wing' conventions are there?"
BWAH!! and that is why i love Tim.
Wow, Allyson, that The Inside reference is really kind of shoehorned in there. But the surrounding article is great, and TI is great, so I don't care.
Yeah, sorry, that came off a little weird. Not your fault, just addressing you for no good reason since you posted it. I don't understand why people get so down on genre TV. It's practically all I watch.

I wish those people would own up to the fact that "cop/doctor/lawyer 1 hour drama" is as much of a genre as "supernatural/sci-fi serial drama."

I have recently taken to using the term "speculative fiction" for scifi/fantasy/horror stuff... Though it sounds a bit pretentious.
SpecFic makes me think of bad spec scripts.
oh god. i've read some of those. there is no purer pain.
