Funny thing about black and white. You mix it together and you get gray. And it doesn't matter how much white you try and put back in, you're never gonna get anything but gray.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Guest of Honor

It's just that for one of the styles, in addition to the likes (facts, details, knowing what's next) there were the dislikes, which included "role-playing" (causing me to do a silent "AMEN!").

Oh, hell yeah.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

This morning while I was telling Leif to put on his underwear (we're in the middle of potty training), he responded with "Ok, Babycake". I'm not sure why he called me "Babycake".

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Whimper. I gave my bridesmaids amethyst earrings. Real amethysts, but not expensive. We gave the groomsmen small spyderco knives (one of which I still have because the groomsman in question was flying home without checked luggage and I haven't gotten around to mailing it to him). I was a bad bride. I'd better never get married again.

We were invited to the wedding of the couple's shower people, but we didn't go because it was in Mississippi the first weekend of JazzFest. Who plans a wedding like that?

So I'm feeling a bit conflicted. I pre-ordered Harry Potter, but I can't possibly afford to read it until my classes are over for the summer. I may have to ask vw to confiscate it when it comes. But I really want to read it, and if I don't will have to avoid people's livejournals. Which I should be doing anyway, because, hello, classes!

Or maybe the post office will leave it outside at the bus stop and someone will steal it, neatly resolving the problem.

What is even happening?

The FAC brides whose weddings I was in (3 or 4; I can't remember any more) gave crap bridesmaids gifts. I went shopping with one bride for the gifts, which were really ugly $10 rhinestone earrings from Claire's that we were expected to wear with the dresses.

Heh. Earrings and gloves were my gifts to my bridal party. I got married in the year of the weddings among our family and friends. I think my own wedding was something like 8th or 10th in ~ as many months. I was broke. So was my bridal party. I can't remember if I gave them anything else, or not.

No, that's nice! Amethysts != rhinestones. Seriously.

But were the earrings just unrelentingly ugly? If not, then good gift.
