Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find. It was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.

move out and draw fire

All my jobs up until a couple years ago were slack-tastic. I wrote games, wrote stories, drew comics, and read read read read read.

Roald Dahl question: He was a fighter pilot in the African theater? And crashed in the desert? Or am I confusing him with St.-Exupery?

the White House said Tuesday that President Bush continues to have confidence in Karl Rove

Isn't this exactly what he said about Rumsfield after Abu Ghraib?

So I suggest creating an email list to a group, driven mainly by the fact that one member CONSISTENTLY does not reply to all and sometimes replies to the wrong email entirely and because I'm sick of typing out 5 different addresses in my software (and it is stupid software that doesn't have an addressbook.)

And that ONE MEMBER replies that he doesn't think it is necessary. The one who hasn't gotten it right ONCE this week.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

He was a fighter pilot in the African theater? And crashed in the desert?

Yes, and yes. He survived the crash (obviously) and just got clear before the plane caught on fire. It's in his book Solo.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

johnkerry.com has an autoform letter asking for Rove to be fired. Sure the administration probably won't pay any attention, but it does give the Dems and others opposed to Rove to say things like XXX million Americans support Rove being fired. That's not nothin.

I just went and looked up Dahl's bio. Turns out he did his combat flying here! Although it seems like Africa made a bigger impact on him (pun not really intended).

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I had one or two temp jobs where they wouldn't give me internet access. (Because...why would I need to access the network? I was just there to answer the phones!) I ended up reading a LOT of magazines.

At one temp job I read the entire LotR trilogy. I could probably have finished The Silmarillion if I'd had it handy. I've yet to figure out why they hired me, or anyone really. I sat at an empty desk for three weeks. Reading Tolkien.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Laura really ought to be in on this conversation.

6'6 isn't gigantic.

It is for a fighter pilot.

I looked up, right about into Dave Cowans' belly. It took a long time to look all the way up to his face. I think he was about 6'6" or 6'7".

6'9", or at least that was his listed height.

They are clients of ours - I wrote software that was used during the construction of this platform.

Was this the software that was supposed to keep the platform level?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Was this the software that was supposed to keep the platform level?

Yeah, I think the function that I wrote that detects the resignation of a Supreme Court justice and then floods one of the ballast tanks was a bad idea.

All software needs "features" like that.
