What is even happening?

Hot dogs aren't food, they're industrial waste and red dye #6. I can sympathize with the idea of wanting to disguise industrial waste with a lot of condiments though.

I only buy Kosher industrial waste and red dye #6, though. In fact, the boys and I Kosher industrial waste and red dye #6 for lunch. Julia had leftover linguine.

I love crab. But I hate mock-crab. Which many inexpensive Chinese and Thai restaurants insist on serving around here (usually in some sort of seafood combo).

What's mock crab? Is this like pollock, that stuff that's in "seafood" salad? If so, I'm with sarameg. Sorry, -t. I wouldn't use that for bait, which I guess is good, because it leaves more for you.

You need mayo for somethings: tuna sandwiches, crabmeat sandwiches, lobster rolls. That might be it. Oh, potato salad. I like the other kinds without mayo too, but I'm never opposed to some good old Irish ice cream.

Me too, but my kids really like the buns much more than the hot dogs.

Mom uses the mock crab stuff because despite the massive leaps in refrigeration technology, she's still suspicious of seafood which must be transported roughly a thousand miles inland. Also, 'spensive out in the land of the landlocked.

I don't like the real stuff either.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I wasn't feeling defensive about it. I'm totally San Francisco digs carrots.

What is the mock stuff then? It's not polluck?

Damned if I know.

It's some kind of firm fish flesh that's flavored (and colored) to be crab-like.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Don't get me wrong, I think it's very strange that I like mock crab so much (it's pollock (or some such) with added red and some sort of artificial crab flavoring). But there it is.

AHa. It's surimi [link]
