My local Red Cross just confirmed that the rules have changed and that I can donate again. You now have up to five years in Europe, unless you spent more than three months in the U.K. between 1980 and 1996. This is a much more reasonable policy. The old one was crazy.
Yep.
Paul still can't donate. Spent just enough time in the UK to exclude him.
I think I could, but the nausea and bruising from the blood draw means I don't. If I were AB-, like my sister, I'd suck up and deal, but I'm B+, so I don't.
Aeryn Sun's sauna slippers??????
That's going a bit far.
I would like her S1 jacket and pants, however.
I'm O positive, and tend towards low blood pressure. The last time I gave blood, which was about 5 years ago, the woman drawing blood looked at me as I started to get up and told me not to move, she'd bring the cookies to me.
20 minutes later she finally let me leave, with a friend, and told me they really didn't need my blood that badly.
FUCK.
It's my coworker. Unofficially, of course because his group doesn't find out till later (gave him warning so they can see if they can find him a local position.)
FUCK. I was afraid of this. He hadn't told me yet, but my idiot manager came by to "check up" hello, I'm sitting right here so he outed him.
I don't like this.
I'm O positive, and tend towards low blood pressure.
This is me, and I also tend towards low iron, either of which will get me tossed back about half the time. Plus with the low bp, it takes forever.
My old boss used to take a couple of aspirin before donating so the blood would run faster.
Um....
Maybe this is useful only as a reminder that Judith Miller is in jail while Robert Novak continues to walk the earth as a free man. Maybe it's something more. But make of it what you will, Novak writes in his Chicago Sun-Times column today that Supreme Court sources -- anonymous ones, of course -- are saying that "ailing Chief Justice William Rehnquist" will announce his retirement "before the week is over."

I'm sorry, sarameg.
My cul-de-sac is under water. A few of my neighbors are floating in the street on an air mattress. I parked on a side street and waded home.
This does not bode well.
