The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

If it were a Saturday night?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Helmand and Hunan both take reservations, so you could make them now. The trick down there would be parking. Helmand is...sublime. So. Fucking. Good. But actually there's parking to be found on Sansome, and then you walk up about 4 blocks to Broadway. Hunan's roughly in the same area.

Not when your hair is too short to curl.

Maybe it's a good time to play with color.

Listen to the Hec. I hennaed Sunday, and my hair is fabulous. Wow.

Always Anti-fascist!

Fabulous is good, if somewhat wasted, by my not being one hundred when everyone else is. Everywhere I go. Here on the sun's surface.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Also, one of my all-time favorite restaurants, Helmand in North Beach, on Broadway near Columbus, is very affordable. Afghanistan food. Extraordinarily yummy.

Oooh -- I ate there on one of my trips! Very yummy indeed.

Yeah, yeah.

Here on the sun's surface.

I would like to point out that it's been temperate and moderate in SF all summer, and is now headed into the cool foggy portion of the summer.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I second Hec's vote for Helmand and Chow, but not the Citrus Club. Not because the food isn't fabulous, because it so very much is, but it's a wee little place that doesn't take reservations, and trying to get a table for 8-10 on a Saturday evening is just setting yourself up for a load of woe.

But Helmand, especially, is just exquisite, and unique, and mmmm. Also within walking distance of lots of spiffy nightclubs, should you be struck by a sudden urge for pre- or post-dinner drinks and swanky live music.

Thanks for the rec! (and you can ignore the email I sent you, JZ).

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I am so glad to be home. Despite having worked from home Thursday and Friday (my car was in the shop) and everyone theoretically having my personal e-mail to send me stuff as it cropped up, I went in to work this morning to find a metric shitload of stuff that had piled up while I was away. Also managed to talk my boss down from Defcon One over a vendor's mistakes (which I should have caught last week) by getting the ball rolling on corrections. I may still have whiplash from the 180° mood reversal, but I'm sure not gonna complain about the outcome.
