The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Jesse is being all chipper. Does that seem right to you?

Maybe I need to go back to sleep too.

Happy Independence Day, USians!

It took me this post, a quick adding up that yesterday was the 3rd (I know the date because I scheduled a rehearsal lesson for my students on it, also known as the-seven-hours-straight lesson), tomorrow is the 5th (I know the date because it's the date of the students' exam, which is the reason for the-seven-hours-straight lesson), so today is the 4th, to realize that it's the Fourth of July. Silly brain.

Happy Independence Day, UnUnAmericans!

[Edit: 3*2=6 and 2³=8. I would like to dedicate this slumbernut to fireworks.]

Last night was really nice - I tried a new type of sushi that was tres tasty (the local baseball-inspired Redbird roll: avocado, crunchy crawfish, and sweet & sour sauce with shrimp on top) and then out to Collierville for a few hours to watch fireworks with best friend and his kids.

Work is totally overrated. Not in a fun way either.

I bought some stuff at the store yesterday, but I fear I left a bag at the store. I wonder if they will be open today?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesse is being all chipper. Does that seem right to you?

I'm always chipper! At least on the screen, I am. I'm actually reclined with my eyes half open. It is also much later here, of course.

I also did have some donettes, so the sugar rush may be contributing.

Heya, Nilly! Are you all better yet?

Kat, is there a phone number for them? If nobody answers the phone there, then they're probably closed?

Jesse! My sister in fireworks-love! Yup, I'm all better, thanks.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

avocado, crunchy crawfish, and sweet & sour sauce with shrimp on top

Ooh, yum.

Why am I awake? (Answer: Because at 9 am, I had a headache and needed coffee!)

Happy 4th, fellow countrypeople. Way to still be independent!

Were you an American, Megan, you wouldn't have to be.

Can I be an American one day of the year? I'll let you be Canadian on July 1st in exchange!

I could look up their phone number, Nilly. But AM LAZY.

So, since the creation of the summer room, we've noticed that the dogs are less apt to sleep with us but the cat is unstoppable. It's killing me.

Last night, a buffoon (also known as the neighbor), set off some fireworks and freaked out both dogs, but Bear especially. She hid in a corner of the yard that was unreachable.

Finally we got her into the house and she was totally freaked out. Poor baby. Stupid neighbor.

So, while I like fireworks, I mostly like the official shows and not the kind people go into Arizona to buy illegally and then set of in the alley behind our house.

This rant brought to you by the letters F and U.

Totally. I was glad to have stayed up too late last night, because it meant I was still up instead of startled awake when the jackholes started setting off illegal firecrackers.
