Natter 36: But We Digress...
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Just finished the men's final -- it was
shorter than the women's --
I wonder how often that happens... Roddick was
good, but Federer was just that magical.
As a non-Roddick hater
it was difficult to watch him do so much right, and yet not enough. I imagine it must be very frustrating.
It surprised me that I cried after the men's, and not the women's. But
Venus was so damned happy,
whereas
Federer fell down, got up, and sat down and cried.
I can't even imagine.
Aw. Glad it was good tennis for you.
My compressor seems to be stuck on. Ducks, QUIT IT.
I think I'm going to have to cut power to it and see if it thaws out whatever switch is stuck on.
You all are dangerous. I just went and spent far too much money at Home Depot and a local nursery, but now I have a couple of indoor plants and pots, some outdoor plants, a big pot, and a plant stand.
Still no patio furniture though. I saw some I like, but I seem to have my heart set on an adirondack chair.
Perkins, I live within walking (less than 5 minutes) of a Home Depot. It is VERY dangerous. Would be even worse if I weren't renting.
Back from baseball game. It was 95 degrees and sunny. May have heat stroke/exhaustion/annoyance/whatever. Reds suck in an almost operatic manner. But I got to see Roger Clemens pitch, which was sweet.
Am lying down in air-conditioned bedroom. Not wearing pants. Attempting to rehydrate. Need nap.
I have to drive to mine, but it's along a very fun road.
I know people who fear Home Depot and their ilk, and I just don't quite understand.
Of course, mom used to take me as a little kid to the hardware stores on really humid days(pre-home depot, but it had AIR CONDITIONING) and we'd pick out new fixtures and cabinets for imaginary bathrooms and kitchens. We'd debate the merits of different styles, etc. So maybe it is bred into me.
But I got to see Roger Clemens pitch, which was sweet.
DH is jealous.
eta: That's not a designated hitter joke.
I avoided Home Depot by doing some drinking and going to the movies. It really has been a perfect day here. Too bad I spent most of it inside!
And was Rahjah on his game? He strikes me as a slightly, um,
intense
guy. That can't be good for him; his blood pressure's got to be astronomical.
You know, this is my first year of giving a shit about the All-Star game, and the ways of choosing the roster makes no sense. The way to get onto the roster is to be mediocre-to-good on a team nobody cares about; you won't get voted in, but because your team has to be represented, you'll make it there. I mean, Dannys Baez? Really?
