Damn it! You know what? I'm sick of this crap. I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just pull back the curtain and open the balcony door and pretend, while I stay indoors.

That would be enough. My windows are open, but still. What to do, what to do.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I so need one of these.
"...languish for hours in self-indulgent bliss, your book held for you, a glass of wine sitting safely in the glass holder, lit by the warm glow of a candle...you may never have to leave the bath again." Here is the exact one I have. It's nice.
My tub in my apartment now is right on top of concrete, so it tends to be really cold.
My tub will totally suck the heat up until it heated (cast iron), so I fill it once will straight hot water which fills it maybe a third or a half, let the water heater go to work and then fill it the rest of the way. It takes much longer than a standard filling of a tub, but it stays hot longer. Might that help heat up the concrete?
Herbs are wonderful.
Bev wrote herbal porn. Thanks. And it's her anniversary too. Happy Anniversary, Bev and DH!
I didn't know patchouli was a single plant!
I had one of those! It got dead in the Great Raining of Six Months Straight that we had here.
People, if you are travelling with someone over the age of 18 and they decide they don't want to keep travelling with you, do not call the American Embassy and ask to have them "taken into custody." That's called kidnapping.
Oh no, Racquel... I hope everything works out.
and he's wavering on car racing, but he does seem to be interested in most popular sports where you can see the players (as opposed to, say, the cars) even if he doesn't like them -- he's so interested in the meta of sports, the commonality of needing, trying, failing and winning.
You *totally* get this with racing. Hrmpphhh!
I have a new favorite website -- iwantoneofthose.com.
Jessica is in my brain. That was the first place I found my bath caddy to link to. About twenty minutes before I read her post. So browsable...

Happy Birthday, sj!

Up with the sun

Timelies, happy birthday to Frank and sj, and happy anniversary to BeVERley.

I am wearing a black t-shirt and jeans and waiting to go meet P.'s sister and nephew for a picnic at Iwo Jima. We also visited with P.'s family yesterday, so I figure I'm racking up many many in-law points.

(Also, Sheryl, I'm impressed you go to the mall every year for fireworks. I did it once when I was 19 and damn near had a panic attack trying to get back on the train to go home. It was a major NEVER AGAIN for me, and I'm always amazed that people go back. )

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Thanks for all the happy wishes. As I said elsewhere, we're credits to our upbringing for not killing each other for this long. There may be revelry, even perhaps a bit of ribaldry. There will, however, be NO hang-gliding. Or if there is, it will not involve this short little woman whose major phobia is having her feet off a solid surface. Climb anything, yeah? dangle in space, nsm.

Go you on the red not!capris, Theo. I want pictures, they sound fabu.

BeVERly

Heh. Know me long time, don'cha?

Birthday happies to sj!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ooh, I always went to the Mall fireworks, but I'm kind of a fireworks junkie. I will say I'm super excited this year that I won't have to deal with getting home from Manhattan.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Happy Anniversary, Beverly.

You all have convinced me, and I think I am going to head to the nursery to finally buy plants.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Birthday sj!

Happy anniversary Beverly!

All this gardening talk reminds me that I'm gonna have to do some research after we move into the townhouse. There's some plants in the small backyard which I don't know what they are.(I only got a brief look at them and don't remember a thing) I'll need to find out what they are, and how much work they require.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That is a thought, Perkins. If I went into Home Depot, would they be able to tell me what I need for a window box?

Ann, that's a ferret.

On the cat front --

We took Max to a grooming yesterday. His chest and stomach were very badly matted. Unfortunately, the groomer gave him a "lion cut." Basically, this means that his body was shaved, except for his face, tail, and the area around his paws.

This, on a very long-haired Himalayan. He's much smaller than he was.

He's very upset. His twin sister, Marie, doesn't even recognize him and has hissed at him a few times.

We keep telling ourselves it'll grow back.
