"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Thank you for the virtual birthday happies.

Last night was pretty mellow for a bachelor night (a Seadogs - minor league baseball - game and a big red sauce Italian dinner), though it went awfully late (entrees started coming out at 10 pm, though no one was hungry at that point because of the omnipresent appetizers). I don't know if the folks who didn't have to carpool back to Brunswick took the groom on any wacky adventures, but, despite knowing the groom since Kindergarten, I was not up for naughty bachelor "fun", especially on my birthday, so I was happy to miss it.

Rehersal and dinner tonight, then wedding/reception and make an early break to catch part of my family annual out on Peak's island. I am going to be so exhausted it may actually be a pleasure to get back into boring office routine.

Oh well, off for crepes with my Mother and brother. I may not make it to the family thing before she takes off, so I'm trying to maximize other time with her.

Have a good 4th, all!!!!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Happy birthday sj, happy anniversary BeVERly, and happy belated to Frank.

I just told my parents that I tried shooting. My mother, predictably, refuses to process it in that I-know-I'll-be-okay-in-time way. My dad was all "Good for you! Learning new skills rocks!" and then asked me to find him DVDs of all sports. I grilled him, and he's wavering on car racing, but he does seem to be interested in most popular sports where you can see the players (as opposed to, say, the cars) even if he doesn't like them -- he's so interested in the meta of sports, the commonality of needing, trying, failing and winning.

Nutcase.

Watching tennis, on TiVo delay. Yesterday's match was AMAZING (I'm burning it to DVD and sending it home because my parents were too traumatised to watch it all -- I'm mandated to record all Williams matches and keep them until advised otherwise for this reason). Today's match -- well, it's still early, and as Roddick has said -- it won't be a rivalry until he starts winning more. I like Roddick, but Federer speaks to the father's daughter in me. He's just so good! Outside of charisma, flair, or underdogness, which always get me, Federer -- he's everything else. I can't not like him. And, unlike some dominating players, he's not smashing the game. It's not like Shaquille, who I blame for changing an entire sport into something I just don't like so much anymore.

Federer? He plays tennis. He just plays tennis. He does it all. What game you want? Roger will play it. He doesn't make you come to him. He comes to you, and fucks you up.

It makes me tingly.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Happies to everyone!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Happy birthday, sj!

Happy anniversary, Beverly and DH!

Good lord, Raquel. People? A little crazy.

These are the days I really really wish I had a porch. Or a yard, or similar. It is BEAUTIFUL outside, but I'm feeling very very lazy. I should be outside, but the whole getting ready and going somewhere thing just seems like Too Much right now. Hmph.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Morning all!

I have a balconey, that I really need to use, but right now I have no furniture for it, plus I can't let the cats out on it, and it drives them screeching nuts when I go out there without them.

I think I need to go get pancakes or maybe Hobee's blueberry coffee cake.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I am wearing red jeans that end just two inches above my anklebone, which makes them non-capris.

Nope, not capris, just pants that don't fit. :)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have no cats to complain, but also no balcony furniture. I just pull back the curtain and open the balcony door and pretend, while I stay indoors.

I'm wearing black loose cotton pants, a black baby tee and Skechers shoes. Krav stuff.

I can't leave until this game is done. I'd really like to last out this set, but that's a dangerous gamble.

This is what I do.

I am wearing pjs. I need to do something about that before I go to Hobee's.

That would be enough. My windows are open, but still. What to do, what to do.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I so need one of these.
"...languish for hours in self-indulgent bliss, your book held for you, a glass of wine sitting safely in the glass holder, lit by the warm glow of a candle...you may never have to leave the bath again." Here is the exact one I have. It's nice.
My tub in my apartment now is right on top of concrete, so it tends to be really cold.
My tub will totally suck the heat up until it heated (cast iron), so I fill it once will straight hot water which fills it maybe a third or a half, let the water heater go to work and then fill it the rest of the way. It takes much longer than a standard filling of a tub, but it stays hot longer. Might that help heat up the concrete?
Herbs are wonderful.
Bev wrote herbal porn. Thanks. And it's her anniversary too. Happy Anniversary, Bev and DH!
I didn't know patchouli was a single plant!
I had one of those! It got dead in the Great Raining of Six Months Straight that we had here.
People, if you are travelling with someone over the age of 18 and they decide they don't want to keep travelling with you, do not call the American Embassy and ask to have them "taken into custody." That's called kidnapping.
Oh no, Racquel... I hope everything works out.

You *totally* get this with racing. Hrmpphhh!

Jessica is in my brain. That was the first place I found my bath caddy to link to. About twenty minutes before I read her post. So browsable...

Happy Birthday, sj!
