He was so strong and so athletic and seeing him not be able to do these things just breaks my heart. I know that grandparents get old, but dammit, I don't have to like it.
I hear you. Stupid lack of immortality!

Much healthma to your grandfather, Aimee.
Oh, look. Cheese dipped in magic Zankou garlic goo.
Behold the power of crack.
Hey ita, will you please bring that over to our place right now? In change I will give you grilled flank steak.

I felt the same way when my grandma developed CHF, but for what it's worth, she lived for a long time after that. You and your whole family have all my sympathies, and my wishes for strength.
ugh Aimee, it sucks.
what ita said made sense to someone? wtf, indeed.
yes. One day, you'll experience the yum that is Zankou, young jedi.
lotsa health~ma, Aimee.
The dog was stuck under the bed again when I got home. I bought the bed lift things. They fit posts up to 3". My bed has legs that are 4" square. The dog continues to suffer. Or will tomorrow, probably. Right now he's contentedly sprawled on the carpet in front of the TV.
Does the dog have a crate? Even if you're not a fan of shutting him in it, it can be the basis for a good domestic cave/room of his own.
Poor thunderstorm tormented puppy. Devi's been hiding a lot the past few nights due to storms.
My first regular babysitting job is a senior in high school. I started babysitting her when she was 6 weeks old.
going off to crawl under something myself
If your crate is one of those airport crates with the more solid sides? Just take the door off and make it comfy. Put it where he feels safe (by the bed) -- he'll use it.
You can try feeding him in his crate to get him used to the idea.
