My boss prefers hiring people with kids. He thinks it means they're more stable and less likely to leave a job.

Does he hire female people?

Less likely to quit a crappy job.

Exactly. Did I mention I'm looking for a new job?

Does he hire female people?

Yup. But they never last. Because he's an ass.

I only asked, because I've heard that theory before, of hiring "family types" because they're more stable. In a two parent family that includes children, if both spouses are working, one or the other (or a rotating combo of both) is staying home with sick kids, etc. And it seems to me that the so-called pro-family bosses, are the ones with the least patience for, "Yes, I was out with Ben's strep throat this week, but Julia has it this week," realities of "stability".

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I not only sounds out the entire WTF, it has a trace of annoyance and I hit the "F" hard.

I always love freaking out new male co-workers by telling them about the couch in the ladies room. They don't have one theirs. Between that, and the fancy lounges in department store ladies rooms, I think that women have it pretty good, bathroom-wise.

Bingo. It doesn't help that he's a confirmed bachelor with few personal responsibilities.

Blarh. I need someone to come over and fill out this application for me.

Now I'm suddenly remembering why I only applied to three colleges. I hate writing this shit.

Hee! I remember the one-toilet women's bathroom at a restaurant in Chelsea when I went to NYC about eight years ago, where the alcove that the sink was in had this incredible mosaic surrounding the mirror. Just stunning--I have the photo somewhere at home.
