The percentage of cars with stick seems to still be dropping.
I wonder if the fully manual transmission might go away at some point with automatic-clutch manual transmissions starting to become more numerous. There's like five transmission choices now, manual, automatic-manual, automatic, CVT w/o torque converter, CVT w/ torque converter. I think there's another type on some French car, but I can't remember for sure.
That's crazy. I love the stick shift.
You know how TV & movies sometimes show someone waking a person up by throwing water in his/her face? I discovered this morning (when I managed to do it to myself) that it really works.
My Friend's mom used to keep a glass of water on her headboard (it was a bookcase-type thing). This was, until her cat started batting it over onto her face when she wanted to play. Every morning.
I have all the theory of the stick, therefore, and none of the reflexes.
When stuck in traffic, I often start pondering how utterly odd it is that I have instinctive reactions related to directing this giant metal box on wheels. I don't think about the funny dance with your feet for shifting, or how much I'm going to swerve with a 10 degree turn of the wheel at 10, 30 and 60 mph. I just know. (And have to jam my left foot under the seat when driving an auto.) Which is kinda cool and kinda
aaiiieee humans and machines merging.
The other thing stuck in traffic makes me ponder is how utterly squishable we are and dude, I'm the soft filling in this metal creampuff and who ever thought squishables hurlting around at 50 mph inside a flimsy metal egg was a good idea?
Management companies doing the interest things makes sense, but do all, er, non-company landlords do it? You know, the kind where there's this one guy you have to call five times to fix your faucet and he doesn't speak English real well so you don't talk to him more than necessary?
See, I would think it should, because they are holding your money in escrow. However, as we so often learn on this board, Different Places Have Different Customs. So.
I've always gotten security + interest back.
I learned to drive a stick in a military surplus vehicle that was made to pull bomber planes around air bases circa WWII. I know it as a "doodle" but google is giving me no love.
And have to jam my left foot under the seat when driving an auto.
It's been awhile since I've tried to press the clutch in an automatic and came to a sudden stop. I've had some close calls though.
In high school, I remember being on a float in a parade and the driver did that.
Well, Massachusetts law says they're supposed to pay you interest on it. But I'm not at all convinced that people pay that much attention to it.
Ah! Should be in shower. Off I go.
I love our stick shift vehicles in the snow. Heavy, slow traffic, NSM.
