Natter 36: But We Digress...

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Catching up from the last thread.

Only 6 more HBPs to break the record: Plunk Biggio*

One of my very favorite baseball blogs, since Biggio is a fellow alumnus.

Also, that Albert Pujols was drafted in the 13th round, because he was fat and probably lying about his age. The dude who scouted him for Tampa quit in disgust over his team being too dumb to take the opportunity handed them.

Eh, happens all the time. Don Mattingly was drafted in the mid-thirties somewhere, while Mike Piazza was the very last player drafted one year (in the 65th round), and only as a favor to his godfather, Tommy Lasorda.

Frail my heart apart and play me a little Shady Grove

Totally intrigued by the concept of an ASSCAP lunch.

Juliana! and Fiona! I'm never posting at the same time as you. Heck, I'm never posting anymore.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Just sneaking in to get a post in under 50 (I'm so excited!) Now, going back to catch up in the old thread.

eta 33, cool, it's a little mini-slut!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Go off to read e-mail and the thread turns...

I'd drive that girly convertible in a heartbeat. But I'm easy like that.

Emily, I'm always up for mathy chat.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Cryptic: Hec and I are having LUNCH on July 9. I think. This delights me no end.

Um, yay?

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Totally intrigued by the concept of an ASSCAP lunch.

I think that LUNCH=nooner

Haven't we used this thread name before?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So how is everyone? We've got more mini-Buffistas, and a married Jon! Coolness!

I'm doing okay. JZ has a sexy cool new haircut. I've gotten over the hump of major work stress. Emmett's Mom just got a job offer after a year of unemplyoment (which had a huge negative impact on my finances). Emmett was invited to play on his Little League's Tournament Team (all-stars, basically). I love summer. So much better than winter.

It's yay. JZ's Dad bought us a lunch date at a charity auction with a local columnist (Jon Carroll) that we both like.

I think that LUNCH=nooner

Nope. However, JZ's Dad also bought us a night at a fancy hotel at a different charity auction. Maybe we should use that on a weekday and check in at lunch.

My best guess here was that someone was doing some kind of pledge where people would throw copies of the upcoming Harry Potter book at him.

Okay, -t, so let's say we've got a graph of airplane velocity. From time 0 to time 0.5 (hours) it goes directly up from 100 to 600 mph. From 0.5 to 3.5 it does 600 mph. From 3.5 to 4.5 it goes directly down from 600 to 100 again. What's the total distance it travels, and how do you go about getting it?

Yes, this should be easy. Apparently, however, I got it all wrong.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

BF and I are starting TV-less Tuesday tonight. We decided we were spending too much time watching TV and/or videos--we go out once or twice a week to movies as it is. Cinema is awesome and all, but reading and taking walks and stuff like that was getting lost in the shuffle. Looking forward to it--even though tonight's planned highlight is "wash the dog."

ETA--hooray for EM having a job and better financials for Hec and Gamine!JZ!
